Anniversary Day also known as the “Brooklyn Queens Day” taking place in June will be eliminated as a school holiday from the public schools as of school year 2023/2024. As of next school year 23/24 Diwali will be a holiday for public schools keeping the requirement for 180 school days as is. Diwali will be celebrated on Sunday, November 12, 2023 so we expect schools to be closed Monday, November 13, 2023. Diwali is a festival of lights and is one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs.
