Wurzelkinder is a small preschool rooted in children’s rights, collaboration, and community. We support children in growing strong “roots” and confident “wings” — so they can thrive now and in the future. Our German immersion program for children ages 2–5 is designed to feel like a true home away from home. Here, children are seen, supported, and inspired to explore the world through play, independence, relationships, and meaningful experiences.
Interest-driven, Child-centered Learning
Our curriculum follows children’s curiosity, making learning engaging, relevant, and joyful.
Outside Play
Daily outdoor play at Brooklyn’s Backyards is an essential part of our day. Children explore, move, and connect with nature in a safe, enriching environment that supports their development and sense of wonder.
Mixed-age Community
Children learn from one another, build empathy, and grow into confident, socially capable individuals who can navigate changing roles and relationships.
German Immersion
Language and culture are woven into everyday life through songs, routines, and play.
A Brooklyn Childhood with a European Mindset
We combine progressive early childhood philosophies—Pikler, Fröbel, Co-Construction, Waldorf, and Montessori—with a strong sense of community and belonging.
What Your Child Gains
