Free Outdoor Concerts and Dance Parties in Brooklyn this summer 2026

Brooklyn’s 2026 summer scene is packed with free outdoor concerts and community dance parties. Major highlights include Prospect Park’s BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! festival and the throwback Freedom Party in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Williamsburg’s Domino Square offers bi-weekly “Salsa by the Water” with beginner lessons, while Dumbo brings bluegrass to the Archway for the Brooklyn Americana Music Festival. For neighborhood block parties, locals can hit the legendary Soul Summit festival in Fort Greene Park or the Hancock Street Block Party in Bed-Stuy. Downtown Brooklyn adds a run of free plaza parties of its own, from Vinyl Nights at Albee Square to salsa lessons at Willoughby Plaza.

Papi Juice Dance Party

Saturday, September 19 | 4–9pm | Pier 6 Plaza | Free, registration required | Better with big kids and teens — there’s a bar on site

The last of the season, and the earliest start of the three — a 4pm kickoff makes this the most doable with a family in tow. DJs Oscar Nñ and Adam R. of the Papi Juice collective, with Precious Renee Tucker and Soul Summit. Register free.

DUMBO

Brooklyn Americana Music Festival

Saturday, September 12 | 2–10pm | Dumbo Archway, 155 Water Street | Free | All ages — it opens with a kids show, but there’s a bar on site and the later sets skew grown-up

The 12th annual festival runs September 10–13 across venues from Red Hook to Dumbo, and Saturday the 12th is the free, all-ages day under the Manhattan Bridge — nine acts of Americana, country, folk, blues and bluegrass on the Archway stage, hosted by Jan Bell. Seating is first come, first served, and the Archway Bar is open with drinks for sale. Register on Eventbrite.

Downtown Brooklyn

Vinyl Nights at Albee Square

Thursdays, August 13, 20 and 27 | 5–8pm | Albee Square, Fulton Street at Bond Street | Free | All ages — early enough for a dance before dinner

Downtown Brooklyn’s all-vinyl street party, curated by Rebecca Lynn, runs disco, funk, soul, house, boogie, Latin, freestyle and ’80s and ’90s hip hop through a proper sound system in the middle of the square. It starts at five, so the little ones get their turn before the crowd thickens. Dates and DJs.

Salsa Hustle at Willoughby Plaza

Wednesdays, August 5, 12, 19 and 26 | 5–8pm | Willoughby Plaza, Willoughby Street at Pearl Street | Free | All ages — the opening lesson assumes no experience

Each evening opens with a demonstration and a beginner lesson from dancers Jeff Selby and Ximena Salgado, then DJ Henry Maldonado takes over and the floor is open for the rest of the night. Details and dates.

Summer Sunset Salsa at Atlantic Terminal Plaza

Thursdays, August 6 and 20 and September 3 | 6–9pm | Atlantic Terminal Plaza, Flatbush Avenue at Atlantic Avenue | Free | All ages

Nieves Latin Dance Studio runs an all-levels lesson for the first hour, then hands the plaza over to two hours of open social dancing. On August 6 and September 3 the Planted Market sets up alongside it, a vegan-focused market with more than twenty local vendors. Details and dates.

Dancing for Democracy at Abolitionist Place

Tuesday, September 15 | 5–8pm | Abolitionist Place, 225 Duffield Street | Free | All ages — the park has a playground and water play on site

The Vinyl Nights crew brings the sound system to Abolitionist Place for National Voter Registration Day, alongside Brooklyn Org, NYC Votes and the League of Women Voters. Non-partisan, and the playground next to the dance floor makes it the easiest one on this list with small children. Details.

Friday Night Dance with Public Service at 300 Ashland

Friday, September 18 | 5–8pm | The Plaza at 300 Ashland, Flatbush Avenue at Lafayette Avenue | Free | All ages, though it skews grown-up as the evening goes on

Toribio and Mickey Pérez DJ a set built on New York block-party and park-jam tradition, running fifty-odd years of American dance music alongside African, Caribbean and South American rhythms, powered by the Karlala sound system. Details.

Lunchtime Jazz at Columbus Park

Wednesdays, September 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 | 12–1:30pm | Columbus Park, outside Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street | Free | All ages — a weekday noon slot, so easiest with under-fives

The Brooklyn Borough President’s office and the Jazz Foundation of America put local jazz musicians on the lawn outside Borough Hall for five straight Wednesdays. Bring lunch. Details and dates.

Fall Into Step at Brooklyn Commons Park

Thursdays, September 10, 17 and 24 | 12–2pm | Brooklyn Commons Park, MetroTech Center | Free | All ages

A lunchtime dance series with a rotating cast of choreographers and companies covering a wide spread of traditions and styles. This one is closer to watching than joining, and short enough to hold a young audience. Details and dates.

Lunchtime Concerts with BQE Strings at Willoughby Plaza

Mondays, September 14, 21 and 28 | 12–2pm | Willoughby Plaza, Willoughby Street at Pearl Street | Free | All ages

A quartet of conservatory-trained string players reworks current pop hits as chamber music, which is to say the kids recognise the songs and the parents do not mind the arrangement. The series carries on into October. Details and dates.

Fort Greene & Clinton Hill

Soul Summit Music Festival

Sunday, August 9 | 3–8pm | Fort Greene Park | Free | All ages

The legendary outdoor house music party returns to Fort Greene Park for its one remaining 2026 date — five hours of dancing on the grass, with families, strollers and food vendors folded into the crowd. Event details.

Spike Lee’s BK Loves MJ Block Party

Saturday, August 29 | 12–7pm | Fort Greene Park, DeKalb Avenue at Washington Park | Free, no registration | Open to everyone, and the noon start is the easy end of the day with small children — the crowd builds through the afternoon

Spike Lee has thrown a Michael Jackson birthday block party in Brooklyn since 2009, and it comes back to Fort Greene Park for seven hours of dancing on the grass. DJ Spinna handles the music — Jackson 5, solo records, deep cuts and edits, straight through the afternoon — with Lee hosting and Jordan Brand sponsoring this year. It is the biggest free dance party on this list and the last of the Fort Greene summer. Spike Lee’s announcement.

Fort Greene Park Jazz Festival

Saturday, September 12 | 3–7pm, rain date September 13 | Fort Greene Park | Free | All ages

An afternoon of live jazz on the lawn to close out the season. Bring a blanket. Event details.

One note for Clinton Hill: the neighborhood’s big free street dance, the St. James Place block party thrown by father-and-son DJs Saint James Joy, held its 2026 edition on July 25 and has no second block party on the calendar. The duo are back on a Brooklyn stage over Labor Day weekend, though — see Labor of Love at Domino Park below. Their schedule is the place to watch for a fall party.

Bed Stuy

STooPS Summer Festival: Joy as Resistance

Saturday, August 8 | 1–7pm | Decatur Street between Lewis and Stuyvesant | Free with RSVP | All ages

Six hours of a Bed Stuy street given over to music and movement: DJ Toni B, Wukkout! dance fitness with Krista Martin, the Brown Rice Family band, Essence of Ase and Bridges: A Pan Afrikan ARTS Movement. Run with the Decatur Stuyvesant Block Association and neighborhood churches, and built for all ages. RSVP and details.

Hancock Street Block Party

Saturday, August 15 | 12–6pm | Hancock Street between Marcy and Tompkins | Free | Kid-friendly

Multiple DJs, kids activities and more fun during this annual Bed Stuy tradition.

The Billie’s Summer Music Series

Friday, August 7 | evening | Restoration West Plaza, 1368 Fulton Street | Free | All ages

Free outdoor jazz, R&B, hip-hop and soul on the plaza at Restoration, produced by Hollis King for the Billie Holiday Theatre. Check the calendar for set times before you head over. Event details

Williamsburg Domino Park

Salsa by the Water

Wednesdays, August 12 & 26 and September 9 & 23 | 6–9pm | Domino Square, 12 South 3rd Street | Free | All ages, and the beginner lesson is a genuinely good first dance class for kids

Uptown Royalty plays August 12, Victor Santos & Friends August 26, Ocho Con Clave September 9 and Orquesta de Nieves September 23. RSVP free.

Buck Wild Line Dancing

Monday, August 3 | 6–9pm | Domino Square, 12 South 3rd Street | Free | Skews grown-up, but open to all skill levels

Sugarfoot and Spitfire of Buck Wild bring their Williamsburg line-dance party outdoors for a night of country classics and pop singalongs. No experience required. Event details.

Summer Fitness Series: Dance Cardio

Saturdays, August 8, 15, 22 & 29 and September 5 | 10–11am | Flex Field, Domino Park | Free | Teens and grown-ups; no dance experience needed

Domino Park’s Flex Field becomes a free open-air studio on Saturday mornings, and August’s focus is dance cardio, led by Williamsburg studio Good Move. Bring a mat. Event details.

Labor of Love

Sunday, September 6 | times to be announced | Domino Park, 15 River Street | Free entry expected, not yet confirmed | An afternoon event, so gentler with small children than the evening parties on this list

Saint James Joy, the father-and-son DJs behind Clinton Hill’s St. James Place block party, join DJ Honey Cafe for Labor of Love, an afternoon of music, community and giving back presented by Domino Park on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. The date is all that has been announced so far — start and end times, the spot inside the park and the full lineup are still to come. Watch Domino Park’s events calendar for details.

Bay Ridge

Summer Stroll on Third Avenue

Fridays, August 7 & 14 | 6–10pm | Third Avenue, 82nd Street to Marine Avenue on August 7 and 68th to 82nd Streets on August 14 | Free | Kid-friendly, with bounce houses at 82nd and Third

Third Avenue goes car-free and the music comes outside with it: bands, DJs and karaoke set up in front of bars and restaurants the length of the route, with live salsa a regular fixture. The programming is done block by block rather than from one stage, so lineups are announced late — walk it and follow the sound. Organizer updates.

Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra Under the Stars

Friday, August 7 | 7pm | Citizens Bank parking lot, 9201 Third Avenue | Free | All ages — bring lawn chairs and blankets

A 30-piece orchestra turns a Bay Ridge parking lot into an open-air concert hall, with vocalist Amelia Milo and clarinetist Yu Ting on a program that runs from Copland’s “Hoe Down” to Gershwin and Broadway. It falls inside the August 7 Summer Stroll footprint, so you can make an evening of both. About the orchestra.
