Brooklyn kids’ singer Suzi Shelton brings her sing-along-and-dance set to the Park Slope Library auditorium — the makeup date for the June show that got rained out. Pitched at the birth-to-five crowd, so expect to be on your feet alongside them. One registration per family, and latecomers get a ten-minute grace period at the door.

Big kids team up with advanced LEGO robotics sets at the Adams Street Library, building and programming their way through an hour of STEM. Registration is required and the room is small, so sign up rather than turn up.

Wednesdays in May-October | 11am
Sing, read, and play with librarians from Walt Whitman Library in Fort Greene Park! Have fun hearing great picture books read aloud and playing with other children during this program. For children of all ages and their caregivers. This program will be located at the bottom of the Monument stairs near Myrtle Playground and runs on Wednesdays at 11:ooam-11:45am from May 13th-October 14th.
Back-to-School Backpack Drive | Sunset Park

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone hands out free backpacks and school supply kits to Sunset Park families at Martin Luther Playground, at Second Avenue and 55th Street. The resource fair alongside it has health screenings, information sessions, demonstrations, children’s entertainment and an activity area for grown-ups. Kits are first-come, first-served while supplies last, and NYC public schools go back on September 10th.

Spike Lee’s annual Michael Jackson birthday block party is back in Fort Greene Park for a free seven-hour outdoor party, with DJ Spinna on the decks all afternoon and Jordan Brand sponsoring this year’s edition. Lee has hosted it since 2009 and it draws a big dancing crowd, so the noon start is the easy end of the day with small children. Free and open to the public; the park entrance at DeKalb Avenue and Washington Park puts you closest.
