A family day at Industry City

Industry City is a waterfront complex of former warehouses in Sunset Park, spanning six buildings connected by a pedestrian walkway and home to Brooklyn artists and makers, unique shops, food halls, and tons of kid-friendly spaces. Courtyards come alive with public art, sand pits, outdoor dining, fire pits, live music, and seasonal ice skating. Inside, families will find a climbing gym, escape rooms, arcades, Nerf battles, archery, gymnastics, arts and crafts, and more. With its vibrant mix of culture, food, and play, Industry City is the perfect spot for a family day in Brooklyn!

Kid-friendly destinations: 

HAPIK Fun Climbing Gym | This new 15,000 square foot climbing gym has 2 ropes courses and more than 150 routes across 50 climbing walls, going up to 24 feet in height. Best for ages 4 and up! Regular climbing passes are $34.90. For toddlers who are not climbing, there is a soft play area and jungle gym.

Brooklyn Escape Room | Brooklyn Escape Room offers immersive escape experiences in various rooms, including a spooky haunted house, an apocalyptic shelter, and a dark dungeon. They also have a huge arena for Nerf battles! Escape rooms start at $38/player. Nerf Battles are $20/30 minutes and $30/60 minutes. Best for ages 8 and up, and walk-ins welcome.

Brooklyn Game Knight | Brooklyn Game Knight is a tabletop lounge with an epic selection of board games, card games, RPGs, and miniature battles. They double as a retail store, and have become a community hub for gaming, with regular events and tournaments. It costs just $12 to access their full library and play for up to 4 hours.

Nazz Forge | Drop in to this blacksmithing and bladesmithing studio to watch skilled artisans forge knives, swords, and more—or roll up your sleeves and join a workshop to craft your own bottle opener, utility knife, or even a sword. Open Thursday through Sunday, with varying hours.

CREA Interactivity | CREA is Industry City’s first tech driven indoor playground where players navigate through interactive zones, conquering challenges and fostering creativity through movement. The “Crea Adventure” is a 60 minute experience, geared toward 5-12 year olds that combines technology with traditional play/games. Each step reveals new and captivating challenges as players run, jump, climb, crawl and dodge through our seven zones. Drop-ins are $35/class.

Think Talk Create Crafts | This family-run business offers crafting for all ages every weekend from 12-5pm for $45/hour, with projects like cookie decorating, slime making, canvas painting, fashion designing, butterfly wing making, and fairy wing making. Joy Gymnastics | A gymnastics studio celebrating all ages, body types, genders, ethnicities, and capabilities, Joy Gymnastics hosts a variety of classes, camps, a drop-off playdate called Joy Night Out. They also have open play for ages 1-6; membership is required to participate ($40/annually), and single passes are $20.

Game Room | The Game Room at Industry City has recently had a massive makeover, with a fantastic array of brand-new games. Admission is free, and you can load credits onto a card. They also have ping pong and an assortment of games that are free to play, plus a space in the back that will be used for birthday parties. The revamped game room will soft launch Memorial Day weekend!

Wild Captives | This indoor archery range offers introductory lessons on weekends, taught by experts! Walk-ins welcome. Note: Participants under 18 must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by an adult.  

Pétanque at Carreau Club | At Carreau Club, you can spend the afternoon playing pétanque, a French form of “lawn bowling,” with courts both indoors and outdoors. Note: Carreau Club does not allow children under 10 years old on the courts. All kids 10+ must have 1:1 adult supervision, and Carreau Club is 21+ after 5pm.

Eating and drinking

There’s something to satisfy every craving at Industry City. Here are a few of our favorite spots among the 40+ global food vendors you’ll find there:

Sahadi’s | Visit this Mediterranean grocery store and restaurant where you can do all your food shopping, then sit down for a freshly baked pita bread with grilled Halumi cheese and greens. Sahadi’s also hosts live music in their tented outdoor space, including salsa every Friday night!

Li’-Lac’s Chocolate | Kids will love watching chocolate artisans create gourmet treats live through the windows of their factory, with everything available for purchase in the chocolate shop. Don’t miss the delicious milk chocolate almond bars!

Japan Village | This vibrant marketplace has become a go-to destination for all things Japanese outside of Japan. It features a Japanese grocery store, a lively food hall with ramen, sushi, and bento, an izakaya bar, and a shop specializing in Japanese spirits. Upstairs, The Loft offers home goods, beauty products, and more—and regularly hosts weekend markets and crowd-favorite karaoke parties. Plus, a brand-new standalone karaoke venue is coming soon!

Burger Joint| Burger Joint is a no-frills burger spot with flame-broiled burgers (plus a Beyond burger), served with French fries, onion rings, and milkshakes.

Kotti Berliner Döner Kebab | Kotti Berliner Döner Kebab brings an authentic taste of Germany to Industry City, serving the popular Berlin-style street food of thinly sliced meat served with garden toppings, crumbled feta, in a toasted Turkish pita. 

Frying Pan Brooklyn| Frying Pan serves excellent seafood like lobster rolls and fish tacos, alongside classic American favorites. It’s a family-friendly spot where both kids and adults will find something to enjoy—plus a great selection of drinks for the grown-ups.

Plan a parents’ night out!

Planning your next date night? Industry City lights up after dark! Book the sitter for a fun-filled evening—dinner, drinks, maybe even some dancing—all in one place. With so much to explore, you’ll pack in plenty of fun and still be home before midnight!

  • A new addition to Industry City, Confidant is the campus’s first and only fine dining restaurant—an ideal start to your date night. Founded by two Roberta’s alums and close friends, it offers a seasonal, rotating menu featuring dry-aged fish and meat, seafood, and natural wines. The cozy space blends elevated dining with local flavor, sourcing ingredients and drinks from Industry City neighbors like Fort Hamilton Distillery and Ends Meat.
  • For a more casual option, head to the Food Hall, where you can choose from a global mix of cuisines—Korean, slow-smoked BBQ, Bangkok-style Thai, and more. Grab your meal to go and relax in one of the courtyards, complete with outdoor art, fire pits, and live music.

Cocktail bars, tasting rooms, and distilleries

  • Cozy up at Oldie’s, an old-school Japanese cocktail bar specializing in bright cocktails with freshly-squeezed fruits, Suntory Toki Highballs, and sake. Bar snacks include fresh oysters, sashimi, and corn tempura.
  • Head upstairs to the Bitter Monk, an intimate cocktail bar with a distinctive stained-glass backdrop. It’s also a tasting room for the micro-distillery Atheras Spirits, and specializes in house-made amari, herbal liqueurs, and bitters. 
  • Or stop by Fort Hamilton Distillery, a premier rye whiskey, bourbon & gin distillery where you can take a tour, enjoy a tasting, or even make your own personalized bottled spirit.
  • Looking for a nightcap? Stop by Barrow’s for a craft cocktail. As the production facility of Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur (made with cold-pressed fresh ginger), the tasting room features over 200 bottles representing more than 40 New York State distillers, making it the largest selection of New York spirits in the world. 

Live music, dancing, and more special events

  • Standard Wormwood Distillery offers a rotating lineup of live music, which you can enjoy alongside their seasonal cocktails, made with ingredients from their family’s upstate New York farm.
  • Show off your moves at Sahadi’s, home to salsa dancing and live Latin music by Cuarteto Guataca every Friday from 7-10pm.

Shopping

Maker’s Guild | Industry City’s Maker’s Guild is a creative collective of nearly 20 local artisans and entrepreneurs, many of them women-owned businesses. While the kids play, parents can shop the highlights of the guild, from ethically-made fitness wear at Sirko Fitness to Japanese home goods at Ippin Project, custom nail and tattoo art at Tagliente Studio, candles inspired by films at Mise en Scent, and handmade lingerie at Rue du Paradis. With a focus on craftsmanship, shoppers will have the unique experience of interacting with the makers themselves as they browse each shop.

Bandai Namco | Bandai Namco’s newly opened retail store at Industry City marks their first U.S. location, drawing fans of all ages. The store features a wide range of collectibles, card games, action figures, and exclusive merchandise from popular brands like Gundam, Tamagotchi, and Pac-Man. With interactive displays, limited-edition items, and a unique, hands-on shopping experience, it’s a must-visit destination for collectors and pop culture enthusiasts.

POWERHOUSE | Industry City has its own location of the wonderful indie bookstore POWERHOUSE, with a great selection of books, art, and gifts. They have a fantastic section of kids books, and host book launches and weekly story times for kids, every Sunday at 1pm.

St. Mark’s Comics | St. Mark’s Comics, an East Village landmark since 1983, reopened in Industry City after closing their original shop. Now in a bright, 1,700-square-foot space, they offer a wide selection of comics, manga, graphic novels, and collectibles—plus vintage toys through a partnership with Big Tin Robot.

Winter Ice Skating

In the winter, Industry City transforms into a cozy wonderland with its enchanting outdoor Ice Rink. They even serve hot chocolate, spiced cider, and hot toddies rinkside! Open Thursdays through Sundays, tickets start at just $10 on Thursdays and $16 on weekends. Skate rentals are $12, with optional skate aids for $10, helmets for $5, and bag check also available for $5.

Getting there

By subway: The the D, N, or R train to 36th St Station.

By car: Take I-278 W (Brooklyn Queens Expressway) to Exit 23. There is on-site outdoor parking available for $20/day. Entrance to Lots B+C are on 2nd Avenue and 37th Street.
