Affordable housing lottery open for buildings in Vinegar Hill and Gowanus

Housing lottery is open for rental units at the new building The LightWell at 218 Front Street in Vinegar Hill with 218 apartments total. The building boasts a variety of amenities including play room, outdoor spaces, golf simulator room, media room, gym and more. Each affordable apartment is equipped with dishwasher.

There are 17 one-bedrooms for $3,317 monthly (market rate one-bedrooms start at $4,800) and 33 two-bedrooms for $3,963 monthly (market rate two-bedrooms start at $6,900 monthly) in the affordable housing lottery. Lottery closes on October 30, 2024, apply here.

Lottery is also open for the affordable apartments at 420 Carroll, the first building developed through the 2021 Gowanus Neighborhood Rezoning. The lottery is for 90 homes reserved for families between 40 and 100 percent of the area median income, which is 25 percent of the total 360 apartments in the development. 420 Carroll also includes 27,000 square feet of commercial and retail space and a 470-foot-long public promenade along the canal.It includes a 21-story tower and an adjacent 16-story tower connected by a subterranean tunnel so residents can access amenities in both buildings.

Residents will also have access to “The Shop,” the development’s third location offering 14,000 square feet of coworking and affordable art studios, a lounge, multiple outdoor green spaces including a public plaza, fitness center, a children’s playroom and onsite bike storage. There are 21 two-bedroom apartments available starting at $967, 50 one-bedrooms starting at $830 and 7 three-bedrooms starting at $1,093 monthly. Move-ins will begin in Fall 2024.
