Woke Baby Book Fair | Downtown Brooklyn | 8/3
The first annual Woke Baby Book Festival will focus on social justice-themed children’s books. This event will nurtures families through storytelling circles, music, dance and poetic soundscapes with hands-on activities for our next generation of global citizens. The event will take place at the Center for Fiction in Downtown Brooklyn on Saturday 8/3 from 10.30 am to 2 pm.
Hindu Lamp Ceremony | DUMBO | 8/3
Decorate your own palm leaf lamp and release it in the East River as part of the traditional Aarti ceremony for peace and harmony. Audience members are also invited to join in the traditional percussion ensemble. Saturday, August 3, from 4 to 8 pm at the Main Street beach in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
NYPD National Night Out | Brooklyn Bridge Park | 8/6
The 84th Precinct invites the community to celebrate National Night Out with free BBQ, ice cream, face painting, games and more on 8/6 starting at 4.30 pm.
Kidflix Film Festival | Downtown Brooklyn| Fridays

Fishing clinics | Brooklyn Bridge Park | 8/9 & 8/17
Learn how to tie fishing knots, bait a hook, cast a fishing rod, and maybe even reel up a fish! Guided by a marine biologist and expert anglers, you’ll learn the basics of line fishing, while catch-and-releasing some of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s aquatic organisms. Equipment provided on-site. All ages are welcome to drop-in. Friday 8/9 from 4 to 6 pm and Saturday 8/17 11 am to 1 pm at Pier 5. Find out more here.

Free family-friendly concerts and interactive arts programming held beneath the Manhattan Bridge Archway in DUMBO all August on Thursdays 5.30 to 9 pm until August 29. New this season are opening acts for kids beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Basketball Clinics | Brooklyn Bridge Park | Thursdays and Sundays
Join the 2-hr basketball clinics at Pier 2 led by KING Hoops, NYC’s premier youth basketball organization. Learn basketball basics as head coaches lead participants through drills and games. Recommended for 7+. Tuesdays 5 to 7 pm; and Sundays 12 to 2 pm, until August 25.
