Free kid-friendly events this week in Brooklyn (11/3-11/9)

November kicks off with a week full of family fun across Brooklyn! From free story times and concerts to nature programs and Brooklyn Robotics League sessions for tweens and teens, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss weekend highlights like kid-friendly dance workshops at Mark Morris Community Day in Downtown Brooklyn, Sing for Hope Family Jam at BAM in Fort Greene, the Yankee Fair at Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights, and the Brooklyn Museum’s Children’s Book Fair in Prospect Heights.

Free Admission Days @ Pier 2 Roller Rink | Brooklyn Bridge Park

The Pier 2 Roller Rink in Brooklyn Bridge Park offers free admission hours on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. Roller skate with amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge and lower Manhattan! Skate rental is $8 per person.

This month, artists from Mz. Icar are visiting ColorLab! Work alongside creators from the artist collective to create a “fuzzy chandelier” inspired by their artwork. Bend pipe cleaners into shapes, layer on your fuzzy and smooth materials, then wrap everything onto your dowel rod to create a textured hanging sculpture and learn how to layer different materials!

Planetary Science: What is the Solar System? at Brower Park Library | Crown Heights

Meet nearly 50 of your favorite Brooklyn authors and illustrators as they share their latest publications. This free event features storybooks, picture books, chapter books, and graphic novels—fiction and nonfiction—for kids from preschoolers to middle schoolers. Throughout the day, children can chat with authors and illustrators, listen to readings and watch artists sketch, get books signed, and participate in book-related art projects. Plus, visit Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea, an interactive installation inspired by one of Jeffers’s beloved children’s books.

Stop in to learn about the Park and local ecology, including a 10’ model of the Park, visit our tank critters include fish, turtles, and frogs, and enjoy rotating monthly themes with crafts and activities!
