Get ready for a fun-filled week in Brooklyn with activities for kids of all ages! Don’t miss CAMPTOPIA, Manhattan’s biggest indoor summer camp fair filled with exciting activities for children. Enjoy a free kids’ concert with Suzi Shelton at Time Out Market in DUMBO, a festive Mardi Gras family concert and art show at Smith Street Maternelle in Brooklyn Heights, and the first Ramadan and Purim celebrations of the month. Plus, local libraries are hosting plenty of storytimes, STEM workshops, and more fun programs for little ones.

Join Eastern Parkway Library and Solar One’s Green Design Lab for our spring Interactive Environmental STEM Workshops series. These 60-minute workshops aim to increase interest in STEM, self-efficacy in regard to STEM skills, expand knowledge on electricity generation, energy efficiency, renewable energies, and issues around climate emergency. Each week of this 10 week series, educators will cover a new topic! This week’s topic is energy. Learn how energy transfers through an Energy Transfer Lab!

Join us in our Craft Room to practice reading with our guest pup, Mia! Kids can make enormous strides in building self-esteem and confidence while acquiring a love of books by reading to a dog. The goal of the program is for kids to read in a specific environment. Grown ups, if you’re comfortable, we ask that the kids attend the session on their own, thank you! Sign up at the Children’s Reference desk for a 15 minute slot on the day of the program. First come, first serve. Space is limited to 3 children per time slot. We are so excited to be partnering with Time Out Market at 55 Water Street while Adams Street is closed to bring DUMBO toddlers weekly story times! Read books, sing songs, learn fingerplays, and play with other toddlers and caregivers! Geared towards ages 18-36 months.

Take advantage of free admission hours at the New York Aquarium in Coney Island, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. Next Step Community Church is focused on helping people in need—whether hungry, homeless, or seeking recovery from substance abuse. On Saturday mornings, volunteers are needed to serve at the Community food pantry which provides quality food to restore health and dignity for families in need. Volunteers help distribute grocery items to guests from the community. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty as well as closed toe shoes. Please be aware that there is some lifting and other activities that require physical activity. Children ages 8+ are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.

March is the Month of La Francophonie! Smith Street Maternelle is thrilled to invite you to a special Timbalooloo concert and Art show at 109 Remsen Street. Doors open at 9:30 AM, and the music kicks off at 10 AM. This joyful, interactive concert wraps up a month-long exploration of Mardi Gras and New Orleans culture in our music classes. The Timbalooloo teaching team—Oran Etkin, Alix Tucou, and Michel Maurer—will bring their instrument friends to life, including Clara Net and Big Mama Tuba! Expect a lively, engaging experience for kids and grown-ups alike. In addition to the music, we’ll showcase a special exhibition of Mardi Gras masks created by the children during Art Time with Marina and Anouk. If you’ve never been to a Suzi Shelton concert, you are in for a treat! With over a decade of experience, Suzi creates music that is both uplifting and fun, encouraging little ones to sing, dance, and explore the world around them. As a true happiness-maker, Suzi’s performances are infused with charm and energy, leaving her young audience (and their grownups) smiling and inspired. For the youngest audience members, Suzi uses props such as books, egg shakers, dancing scarves, and special “friends” like Grey Squirrel, Snowy the Owl or her beloved Cinnamon Bear. Mommy Poppins and Brooklyn Bridge Parents have partnered up to host CAMPTOPIA presented by NORY, Manhattan’s biggest summer camp fair ever with 30+free kids activities on Sunday, March 9! Unlike traditional camp fairs, this event provides an opportunity for families to experience camps in person. We will have 30+ free kids activities for all ages including magic show, STEM fun, games, face painting, crafts, freebies and more. The free event will take place at Pier 57 with Market 57 Food Hall, and adjacent to Little Island in Chelsea. There will be Wicked Musical Theater Workshops at 12:15 and 1:15pm, and a Magic Show at 2pm!
