The Art of Drag: Drag Makeup Demo | Borough Park

Bella Noche, the premiere mermaid drag queen of New York, sure leaves a splash wherever she swims. She aims to bring love and laughter to all audiences with her fantastical spark of colors, creativity, and charisma. Bella is known as a leader within the LGBTQIA+ community and the drag community for her various work across New York City and Long Island. This will take place at the Ryder Library.

Come to The Magic of Moving Pictures, a free Animation Workshop series led by teaching artist Maya Perry at the Sunset Park Public Library! This hands-on series introduces young artists to the history and techniques of animation through playful exploration and storytelling. Over the course of several weeks, students will discover how still images come to life through persistence of vision, from early optical toys like thaumatropes and flipbooks to modern stop-motion techniques using paper, clay, everyday objects, and even their own bodies. Each session builds foundational animation skills while nurturing curiosity, collaboration, and creative confidence. From crafting a flipbook, storyboarding an idea, to animating with clay or fabric, students will engage deeply with art and technology—bringing their imagination to motion one frame at a time.
