America welcomes the tall ships of the world to the Port of New York and New Jersey for a universal celebration of America’s 250th anniversary! Sail4th 250 brings several to dock at Brooklyn Bridge Park, open for tours July 5th, 6th, and 7th from 12:00pm-6:00pm on most days. While tall ship tours are FREE of charge, reservations are strongly recommended due to high demand. Your reservation will guarantee your spot during your selected time frame. Children must be five and older to board the ships and require a ticket. Strollers are permissible on the piers but are not allowed aboard the tall ships. Closed-toe shoes are required to board the ships. This event is rain-or-shine.

Since 1887, the Italian American community has been celebrating their faith, culture, and family traditions on the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Each July, the streets are filled with revelers from near and far to take part in a centuries old tradition known as the Dancing of the Giglio. For 12 days, the streets surrounding the Shrine Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel are transformed into a vibrant festival, with food vendors, rides, games, and daily entertainment.

Family Kayaking | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Glide along the water this summer and fall in Brooklyn Bridge Park’s protected embayment with free public kayaking! Presented in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, free kayaking is offered throughout the summer on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons. All levels are welcome including first-time kayakers — life vests and all equipment provided, as well as instruction. Children under 18 must have an adult guardian present. Meet at the north entrance of Pier 2, look for the floating dock. Their Sunday program is specifically geared for kids and families, allowing younger paddlers to go solo in single kayaks! Kids aged 7 and older can paddle solo (as long as a guardian is present) thanks to additional on-water safety boaters from The Kayak Foundation who are specially trained to work with kids. Advanced registration highly recommended, providing 20 minute timed slots. Registration opens 2 weeks ahead of each date through the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse website.
