Free outdoor movies in Brooklyn this summer

Outdoor movies are back in Brooklyn this summer! Enjoy free films in parks and public spaces all across the borough, including Brooklyn Bridge Park, Fort Greene Park, Downtown Brooklyn, Prospect Park, Prospect Heights, Red Hook, Crown Heights, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Sunset Park, and Coney Island. From cult classics for adults to kid-friendly picks, there’s something for everyone. Grab a blanket, bring some snacks, and catch a movie under the stars. Note that all movie screenings may not be appropriate for children; film ratings are included in each listing for parents to review.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

  • The Wizard of Oz | Wednesday, August 7 | Lawn opens at 6pm; movie at sunset | PG

  • Hidden Figures | Wednesday, August 21 | Lawn opens at 6pm; movie at sunset | PG
  • Public Choice Night | Wednesday, August 28 | Lawn opens at 6pm; movie at sunset | PG-13 | Vote for your favorite: Pretty in Pink (1986), Julie & Julia (2009), or Marie Antoinette (2006). Voting opens in early August on Brooklyn Bridge Park’s website. The winning film will be announced at the August 21 screening.

On four Tuesdays in July & August, Domino Square will show double features of movies set in NYC. 4pm showings feature family-friendly movies and activities, presented by A Rosie Day. 7pm showings explore NYC from the 1980s to the 2010s, presented by Nitehawk Cinema, with DJ sets that take you back in time.
