Governors Island, a 172 acre island in the heart of New York Harbor, will be open this year from May 28 to September 25. Over 25 events will be hosted on the island this summer including a family day, jazz age lawn parties, a badminton tournament, and vintage baseball. All events listed here.

The ferry from Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park runs Saturdays and Sundays every half hour from 11 am to 5.30 pm leaving from Pier 6 and every half hour with the last boat leaving from Governor’s Island at 7 pm back to Brooklyn. No ferries to Governors Island from Brooklyn on weekdays but Memorial Day and Labor Day. The round trip is $2 for adults and free for kids under 13 years old. More info on the ferry schedule here.
On July 19th this year, The Hills “a playground paradise” will be opening. Rising 25 to 70 feet above the Harbor, the Hills will offer lush rolling landscapes, grassy overlooks, exhilarating slides, unforgettable views, and a permanent installation by British artist Rachel Whiteread. The tallest Hill, Outlook Hill, provides visitors an extraordinary 360-degree panoramic experience of the Harbor.
