Kindergarten seats still available in NYC’s first public Montessori school in Downtown Brooklyn

There are still Kindergarten spots available at Albee Square Montessori (P.S. 482), which will be New York City’s first and only public Montessori school when it opens in September. The school has enrolled Pre-K and Kindergarten students for Fall 2024, and will grow one grade per year up to 5th Grade.

Families interested in enrolling for Kindergarten are invited to join for an upcoming Open House session. Register here for one of the following dates:

  • Virtual Open House | Monday, August 26th, 4:00pm
  • In-Person Open House | Wednesday, August 28th, 3:00pm

P.S. 482 comprises six floors of One Willoughby Square, a new high rise building in Downtown Brooklyn, adjacent to Abolitionist Place. Students will use the new public park space daily, as well as a rooftop play space. There will be 4 mixed-age classrooms, and school hours will be 8:30am to 2:50pm. The school has partnered with NIA to offer a fee-based after school program that goes until 5:50pm every day.

Albee Square Montessori is grounded in the Montessori model, with the belief that children learn naturally through hands-on experiences and intentionally designed environments that support exploration, innovation and discovery. Albee Square Montessori will also focus on nature: bringing love, appreciation and care for living things, and highlighting the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Students will explore the world outside of the school community, with many field trip experiences and partnerships. Finally, the school will support a rich arts education in visual art, music, and theater, and will support this curriculum by partnering with cultural institutions and other outside organizations.
