Meet Kristy Watson, Brooklyn mom and Chief Marketing Officer at Rebelstork, a new marketplace selling open box and overstock baby + kids gear, saving new parents thousands of dollars and making mama earth happy with 180,000+ pieces of baby gear saved from landfills.
Your job title: Chief Marketing Officer at Rebelstork, North America’s first tech-driven baby gear marketplace created for parents.
Your work in one sentence: Build awareness, growth and community for parents and caregivers as the go-to recommerce destination for buying premium baby gear at a fraction of the cost – all the while keeping sustainability and the circular economy top of mind.
Your children: I have a 4-year-old daughter, Ruby ❤️
Where do your kids go to school: In the most beautiful neighborhood in Brooklyn, Plymouth Community School
Which neighborhood do you live in: We just moved from Downtown Brooklyn to Gowanus. I am obsessed with our new neighborhood. The sense of community, restaurant selection and families are awesome and so unique. I have missed being able to walk to so many wonderful places. There is nothing like discovering a new neighborhood in Brooklyn.
What do you love about living in Brooklyn: As someone who spend their first 10+ years living in Manhattan and loving it, I didn’t think anything could top it. And then I moved to Brooklyn. Brooklyn is charming, much bigger (but feels smaller), families, singles, kids, elderly – it’s a community of wonderful people. Each neighborhood has something new to share. I can’t remember the last time I ventured into Manhattan to a new restaurant, as Brooklyn seems to have some of the best. The playgrounds, the coffee shops, all the new apartments popping up, the waterfront, the parks (+ dog parks for our 13 year old Dachshund) and the never-ending pop-ups, museums, and artisan wonders. I have fallen in love with Brooklyn and can’t imagine living or raising a family anyplace else!
