New amenities for families in Brooklyn April ’26

This month brought several creative openings to Brooklyn – including a ceramics studio in Prospect Heights, a craft shop in Crown Heights, and a place for unneeded art supplies to get a second life in Sunset Park. Families can also check out a new playground in Bay Ridge, a Montessori school in Park Slope, a comedy club in Greenpoint, and an indoor play space in Williamsburg. Even more openings are slated for this spring, including a bouldering gym in DUMBO and a spot for indoor golf in Williamsburg.

Owl’s Head Park Playground and Basketball Courts | Bay Ridge | NOW OPEN

After over a year of construction, Owl’s Head Park Playground and Basketball Courts is finally reopen and ready for spring! The playground consists of a large jungle gym for older children and a small play area for little ones (shown below). There are also swings and a separate water area with lots of climbing activities. The new basketball courts and adult fitness area looks great too!

Brooklyn Creative Reuse | Sunset Park | NOW OPEN

Brooklyn Creative Reuse is dedicated to fostering creativity and sustainability through collaboration and community building. They accept donations of paints, yarn, fabric, beads, paper, tools, and more so that can be repurposed into new works of art. Donations can be dropped off Wednesday-Thursday from 2:00pm-7:00pm and Friday-Sunday 11:00am-6:00pm. Email them if you need donations for a project. They also host pay what you can events for adults and children.

Studio Shipley | Prospect Heights | NOW OPEN

Studio Shipley is a full-service ceramics studio founded and operated by Mary Shipley, a ceramic artist and product designer based in Brooklyn. They are located at 952 Atlantic Avenue. The studio welcomes artists and students at many stages of their practice. Whether taking a first wheel-throwing class or refining a long-term body of work, individuals are supported in building skill, confidence, and a meaningful connection to the process of making. They offer a variety of 6-week classes and one day workshops. Find more information here.

Ms. Lam Montessori School | Park Slope | NOW OPEN

Ms. Lam Montessori School has opened its 5th campus in Brooklyn at 125 5th Avenue. Ms. Lam Montessori School provides an authentic Mandarin-immersion education. The classrooms are mixed ages and taught by AMI-certified teachers. This campus serves families with children ages 18 months to 6 years old.

Field 9 at the Prospect Park Parade Ground | Prospect Park | NOW OPEN

The newly restored Field 9 at the Prospect Park Parade Ground is officially open. This field now features pro-level turf, improved pathways and ADA-accessible water fountains, making it more welcoming for all.

Greenpoint Comedy Club | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN

The Greenpoint Comedy Club is ready to provide laughs! The club is located on Greenpoint Avenue between Franklin Street and West Street. Get tickets here.

Acorn Craft Shop | Crown Heights | NOW OPEN

Acorn Craft Shop is a craft supply shop and community space built for makers of all kinds. They believe that creative effort is a fun and transformative process, and it’s made even more meaningful when shared with friends and neighbors. The shop offers supplies for knitting, crochet, painting, drawing, embroidery, mending, and everything in between. They will also be hosting classes with sliding scale ticketing. Stop by 727 Washington Avenue Tuesday-Saturday 11:00am-7:00pm or on Sunday from 11:00am-5:00pm.

Marshalls | Sunset Park | NOW OPEN

Marshalls, which offers brand-name goods at lower prices, has arrived at Liberty Bklyn, which used to house Buy Buy Baby, Face Values, World Market, and Bed Bath and Beyond. Liberty Boleyn is also home to Floor & Decor. They are open from 9:30am-9:30pm daily.

The Green-House at Green-Wood | Sunset Park | NOW OPEN

The beautiful new Green-House at Green-Wood Cemetery has opened. It features space for school programming, exhibition galleries, a Center for Research, and more. It is also available to rent for private events.

GoodVets | Gowanus | NOW OPEN

GoodVets’ newest location in Gowanus at 507 Union Street is now open. GoodVets offers primary and urgent care for pets, often with same day appointments available.

Parkish | Williamsburg | NOW OPEN

Parkish is a 5,000-square-foot indoor play space in Williamsburg that is members-only, open from 6am to 10pm every day. The concept is part indoor park, cafe (with coffee, wine, and light bites), and social club, designed for both kids and adults. Interested families can become founding members here

Studio Lato | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN

Studio Lato has opened a new mat pilates studio at 151 Green Street. Their sister location is at 188 Freeman Street and offers reformer pilates. Find their schedule of classes here.

Brooklyn Uprising | DUMBO | Opening soon

Brooklyn Uprising, a new indoor bouldering gym, is opening soon at 20 John Street in DUMBO, across from Brooklyn Bridge Park. The facility (ages 16+ only) will offer bouldering walls, strength-training equipment, locker rooms with showers, and a cedar sauna, along with optional climbing coaching and personal training. Memberships will start at $135 per month, with additional day pass, punch pass, and annual options planned.

Pure Barre | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening soon

Pure Barre will be opening its newest NYC location on Hoyt Street soon. Keep an eye on their social media for founding member rates and the grand opening date.

The Malin Co-Working Space | New location in Brooklyn Heights | Spring 2026

The co-working company The Malin has announced a new location coming to 57 Court Street in Brooklyn Heights. The 15,000 square foot space will be located on the second floor above SoulCycle, Sephora, and Hot 8 Yoga. This will be The Malin’s 7th location in New York City and its 2nd location in Brooklyn, with an outpost already established in Williamsburg.

Five Iron Golf | Williamsburg | Opening Spring 2026

Indoor golf simulation with a clubhouse style restaurant is coming to the plaza at 25 Kent Avenue. Slated to open in spring of 2026, this location will have state-of-the-art Trackman golf simulator bays, high-speed swing cameras, and access to 200+ world-class virtual golf courses.

Planet Fitness | Park Slope | Opening Spring 2026

Planet Fitness has signed a 10 year lease and will open in the spring in Paseo on Fifth.

Maven Valley Prep II | Brooklyn Heights | Opening Summer 2026

Maven Valley Prep will be opening a second location in Brooklyn Heights. Their original location is in Park Slope.

Indoor Pickleball X – Brooklyn | Greenpoint | Opening Summer 2026

Indoor Pickleball X – Brooklyn will be located at 49 Ash Street, right below the Pulaski Bridge in Greenpoint. They will have 13 pro-cushion courts, 24/7 access, a fitness gym, shower, locker rooms, indoor bike parking, pro shop, open play, leagues, coaching, a workstation with private phone booths, and more.

Gifted and Talented Kids | Greenpoint | Opening September 8, 2026

Gifted and Talented kids is opening this fall at 16 McGuinness Boulevard South in Greenpoint at the corner of McGuinness and Broome. They will welcome families with children ages 2 to 6 across 4 programs (Little Explorers (2-3), Bright Minds (3-4), G and T Ready (4-5), and After School Enrichment (5-7). They will utilize the Multiple Intelligences curriculum based on Howard Gardner. There will also be special education support on site. If interested in learning more, join the waitlist here.

Expansion of Brooklyn Conservatory of Music | Grand Army Plaza | Opening Fall 2026

In Fall 2026, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will open a second hub on Grand Army Plaza, just a few blocks away from their Park Slope home at 58 7th Avenue. The new 12,000 square foot expansion at One Prospect Park West will more than double enrollment in their music programs, and will house their new Music Therapy Institute. Blooming Prep Preschool | Brooklyn Heights | Opening date TBA

Blooming Prep is opening its first school at 168 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, taking over a former CVS location that has also been a seasonal October location for the Halloween store Spirit Halloween. The preschool will implement a Reggio Emilia curriculum.

The Goods Mart | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA

The Goods Mart, a convenience store focused on healthier snacks and pantry staples, is coming later this year to Williamsburg Wharf, the new mixed-use waterfront development at 470 Kent Avenue. This will be the shop’s first location in Williamsburg, joining a retail lineup at Williamsburg Wharf that includes a new location of Breads Bakery and a restaurant from chef Eyal Shani. The female-owned Goods Mart offers snacks, drinks, and everyday items from emerging brands.

Lidl | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA

Another 27,0000-square-foot location of Lidl is slated to open soon on the ground floor of 597 Grand Street in Williamsburg. The new store will occupy a mixed-use retail and residential building between Leonard and Lorimer Streets, which was the former site of a Key Foods. Similar to Trader Joe’s and Aldi, Lidl offers a broad assortment of products, including its 49-cent butter croissants, private-label Butcher’s Specialty meats, and Bon Gelati mini ice cream bars. Shoppers can also find gourmet favorites like frozen tiramisu, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, and authentic prosciutto.

Arizona College of Nursing | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening date TBA

Arizona College of Nursing is opening its first New York campus after signing a 10-year lease for 40,000 square feet at 532 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. The Glendale, Arizona–based school will occupy the sixth through eighth floors of the Paxton, a 43-story mixed-use tower near Borough Hall and MetroTech.

Erudite Preschool | Boerum Hill | Opening date TBA

Erudite Preschool is a Russian immersion daycare and preschool for children ages 6 months to 5 years. They have signed a lease at 526 Baltic Street which is the Baltic Canal building.

Prospect Park Vale | Prospect Park | Reopening 2027

The Prospect Park Vale restoration began this month and expects to conclude in 2027. This $37.5 million, 8-acre project is the single largest capital allocation to Prospect Park since Lakeside back in 2010-2013. A new children’s nature exploration area is part of the design!
