New supermarkets are popping up across Brooklyn, including German discount chains Lidl and Aldi, as well as new Whole Foods and C-Town locations. Opening dates haven’t been announced yet for these upcoming stores in Downtown Brooklyn, Park Slope, Williamsburg, and Sunset Park—stay tuned!
Lidl | Park Slope
Paseo on Fifth, a new Park Slope development with two luxury apartment buildings, features a walkable retail paseo anchored by a brand-new Lidl grocery store, in the former space of a Key Foods. Similar to Trader Joe’s and Aldi, Lidl offers a broad assortment of products, including its famous 49-cent butter croissants, private-label Butcher’s Specialty meats, and Bon Gelati mini ice cream bars. Shoppers can also find gourmet favorites like frozen tiramisu, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, and authentic prosciutto. Lidl | Williamsburg
Another 27,0000-square-foot location of Lidl is slated to open soon on the ground floor of 597 Grand Street in Williamsburg. The new store will occupy a mixed-use retail and residential building between Leonard and Lorimer Streets, which was also the former site of a Key Foods.

Aldi | Downtown Brooklyn
Another German discount supermarket, Aldi is opening a new location on Fulton Street near Flatbush Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn! Aldi is a budget-friendly, no-frills supermarket known for its curated selection of private-label and select national-brand products, including fresh produce, dairy, meats, pantry staples, frozen foods, and household essentials. Prices are lower than traditional grocery stores; products are often stocked in shipping boxes, and shoppers bag their own groceries.

Whole Foods Daily Shop | Williamsburg
Whole Foods is opening a 10,700-square-foot “daily shop” at 774 Grand Street in Williamsburg, part of its smaller-format, grab-and-go concept that launched last year in Manhattan, with outposts on the Upper East Side, StuyTown, and Hell’s Kitchen. Located on the ground floor of a mixed-use building, it will join the larger Whole Foods on Bedford Avenue and North 4th Street. The bodega-style shop will feature local Northeast products alongside fresh produce, sushi, rotisserie chicken, take-and-bake pizzas, seasonal salads, and 365 brand staples, plus artisanal cheeses and baked goods from Junior’s and Balthazar. It’s expected to open this fall.

C-Town | Sunset Park
A new location of C-Town is coming to 5818 5th Avenue in Sunset Park. The supermarket chain known for being affordable, with a wide selection of everyday groceries, fresh produce, deli items, meats, dairy, baked goods, pantry items, and household staples.
