A long-awaited public early childhood center called Little Brooklyn Pre-K Center is finally opening its doors to families in Boerum Hill. In a press conference on Tuesday, April 21, the Mayor, Schools Chancellor and local Council Member Lincoln Restler announced that a new 3K and Universal Pre-K (UPK) center located at 274 Atlantic Avenue will officially open in September 2026. The announcement also highlighted the broader addition of hundreds of new 3K and 4K seats across New York City.
The building at 274 Atlantic Avenue has been a point of local frustration. The City originally signed a lease for the space in 2021 under the previous administration, but the building sat vacant for three years while taxpayer funds continued to pay for the lease. Now, the center is finally prepared to welcome students this fall, bringing 63 much-needed early childhood seats to District 15.
