New restaurants, bars, bakeries, and cafés opening in our neighborhoods in October ’24

Check out our overview of restaurants, bars, bakeries and cafés that opened this month, including a new food hall in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, an omakase restaurant in DUMBO, a Danish cafe in Clinton Hill serving all day, from breakfast pastries to dinner, new pasta spots in Prospect Heights and Park Slope, and a Greek-American restaurant in Williamsburg. Plus, there are more exciting openings coming later this fall, including a new bakeshop in Park Slope and the long-awaited arrival of L&B Spumoni pizzeria in DUMBO.

Kin Jo | DUMBO

This 13-seat omakase bar next door to the Adams Street Library in DUMBO celebrated their soft opening on October 15. Led by a veteran chef of Masa, Kin Jo offers 11 courses of sushi and small plates for $95/person. They offer three seatings: 5:30pm, 7pm, and 8:30pm. Reservations are required for omakase, but the bar and lounge is open daily at 5pm with cocktail service including a Yuzu Negroni and Sour Plum Margarita.

El Gallo Taqueria | DUMBO

Up Adams Street in DUMBO Heights, this new taqueria is celebrating its Grand Opening on October 29. El Gallo Taqueria began in Gravesend, Brooklyn, and now has multiple locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. They have tacos, sandwiches, enchiladas, fajitas, and a kid’s menu. They also serve beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Jules | Brooklyn Heights

This new pizzeria at 50 Henry Street serves salads, pizzas with seasonal toppings, dessert, plus cocktails, wine and beer. Open 5-10pm on weekdays, until 11pm on weekends, and until 9pm on Sundays. Walk-ins only!

Summerfield | Brooklyn Heights

Summerfield is a new food take-out shop located at 107 Atlantic Avenue. They partner with local kitchens to offer prepared foods that you can bring home to your family. Their menu is updated regularly, but the fall menu features mains like rotisserie chicken, seared salmon, and barbacoa beef, and plenty of sides to choose from, including butternut squash, Spanish rice, cauliflower mash, and more. They also have desserts to go. Open Monday-Friday, 3-8pm. Pick up, or have your meal delivered! Order online here.

Saturn Road | Boerum Hill

Saturn Road opened up at 276 Court Street this month, and is a coffee shop by day and a wine bar by night. Breakfast offerings include breakfast tacos, and in the evening, they serve light bites, wine, beer, and cocktails. There is also a backyard space with live music!

Loafers Cocktail Bar | Carroll Gardens

This Carroll Gardens cocktail spot pays homage to Brooklyn’s queer history, and is named after the phrase “light in the loafers.” Loafers aims to be a space that celebrates queer people and history in Brooklyn. Located at 517 Court Street, they are open 7 days a week starting at 5pm. Happy hour is 5-7pm Monday through Friday.

Thai Time | Downtown Brooklyn

This new Thai spot restaurant opened at 383 Bridge Street in Downtown Brooklyn. They specialize in takeout and delivery, and are currently offering at 20% Grand Opening discount. Customers can expect classic Thai dishes such as Green Curry, Pad Thai, and Massaman Curry.

Hainan Jones @ Dekalb Market | Downtown Brooklyn

This Hainan chicken spot, based in Midtown Manhattan’s Urban Hawker Food Hall, has opened a new location in City Point’s Dekalb Market. Hainan Jones offers Singaporean street food including Hainanese Chicken Rice and Chicken Porridge.

Just Salad | Downtown Brooklyn

A new location of the NYC-based fast-casual salad chain has opened at 58 Court Street. The menu includes 15 salads, plus wraps, warm bowls, soups and smoothies. The chain has a reusable bowl program where guests can purchase a bowl in-store and receive a free topping with every salad.

The Market @ 77 Food Hall | Brooklyn Navy Yard

The Market @ 77 opened this month at Building 77 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This new food hall is open 8am-8pm daily, and vendors include:

Smør | Clinton Hill 

This Scandinavian all-day cafe based in East Village has opened up a second location on Putnam Avenue, between Downing Street and Grand Avenue. The daytime menu features pastries such as cardamom buns, plus egg sandwiches and Danish pancakes. In the evening, they transform into a wine bar with full dinner service.

Neno’s Gourmet Mexican Street Food | Clinton Hill

Neno’s origins were as a popular neighborhood food truck in Rochester, New York. Now the restaurant, owned by a brother-and-sister duo, has expanded to Brooklyn, with a new location on Myrtle Avenue. They offer a variety of tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tortas, and more. Their liquor license is coming soon! Open Sunday-Thursday, 11am-9pm and Friday & Saturday, 11am-10pm.

Sicily Pizzeria | Park Slope

This new Park Slope pizzeria opened on October 13 at 449 7th Avenue. They are open 7 days per week from 11am to 10pm, and offer free delivery.

Al Dente Fresh Pasta | Park Slope

This new pasta spot in Park Slope has opened on 5th Avenue. They also have wine and homemade desserts. Open Monday-Thursday 5pm-10pm, Friday & Saturday 5pm-11pm, and Sunday 5-9pm.

Pasta Night | Prospect Heights

This pasta spot comes from the team behind Ciao, Gloria, a bakery across the street on Vanderbilt Avenue. The restaurant is calling itself “fine-casual,” where you order food at the counter. In addition to classic pasta dishes, Pasta Night serves appetizers, Italian pastries and desserts, cocktails, Italian beers and wines, low ABV cocktails, and mocktails.

SIMÒ Pizza | Prospect Heights

This Neopolitan pizzeria based in Manhattan has opened a new location at 629 Dean Street. They are open 11am-10pm daily.

Grand Army @ Threes Brewing | Gowanus 

The Boerum Hill oyster bar Grand Army has set up shop at Threes Brewing in Gowanus, replacing the previous food vendor, Super Burrito. They are serving beer-battered cod, burgers, loaded crab fries, and Happy Meals for kids!

Gus and Marty’s | Williamsburg

The married couple behind the breakfast spot Egg Shop has opened a new Greek-American restaurant in North Williamsburg, near McCarren Park. The restaurant is named after the owners’ fathers, Gus and Marty, and serves cocktails and natural wine from Greece and the Mediterranean along with food. The menu includes a variety of dips, spinach and cheese pies, moussaka, lamb, rubles, grilled fish, and petit gyros. There is also a baklava sundae for dessert!

Chrissy’s Pizza | Greenpoint

This pizza used to only be available at Superiority Burger in Manhattan’s East Village. Now, you can find Chrissy’s Pizza at their new permanent home on Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint. They sell whole pies only, not slices.

Hank’s Bar | Bushwick 

This new tavern in Bushwick has a familiar, cozy atmosphere. They serve cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Open Monday-Friday at 4pm, and 2pm on Saturdays & Sundays. There is also an outdoor space where dogs are allowed.

Burmese Harp | Bay Ridge 

Located at 8510 Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge, Burmese Harp is owned by a married couple who came to the U.S. from Myanmar 20 years ago. They serve both Japanese and Burmese dishes in their dining room, and also offer takeout and delivery. Burmese dishes include vegetable fritters, pickled tea leaf salad, garlic noodles, and fish noodle soup.

Little Red Kitchen Bake Shop | Park Slope | Coming November 2024

This new bakery will have their soft opening during the NYC Marathon in early November, as they’re located right along the marathon route. Little Red Kitchen Bakeshop will have an open kitchen when customers can watch bakers at work. They will serve soft pretzels, black and white cookies, challah bread, babka, cinnamon roles, banana bread, scones, and plenty of gluten-free and vegan options. They also use Kosher ingredients and practices. Little Red Kitchen Bakeshop won the 2024 sofi™ award for their Molasses Spice cookies, which they will be serving this fall!

L&B Spumoni | DUMBO | Coming Fall 2024

The DUMBO location of this pizzeria has been in the works for years. The restaurant’s grand opening at 46 Old Fulton Street is said to be coming this fall.

Blank Street Coffee | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening date TBA

The Brooklyn-based chain will be opening up a new location at 1 Boerum Place, on the corner of Boerum Place and Red Hook Lane. Blank Street serves coffee, matcha, and breakfast all day.

Prestige Market | Brooklyn Heights | Opening date TBA

A new market is coming to 60 Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights. According to signage, Prestige Market will sell burgers & sandwiches, panini & wraps, chopped salads, juices & smoothies, halal food, and breakfast fare.

Paris Baguette | Park Slope | Opening date TBA

Paris Baguette is opening a new location in Park Slope, in the space formerly occupied by Foot Locker.
