New restaurants, bars, bakeries, and cafés that opened in our neighborhoods in October ’25

Brooklyn’s dining scene had a busy month, with a wave of exciting new openings — from Jean-Georges’ new waterfront restaurant in DUMBO and a Premier League pub in Brooklyn Heights to a Belle Époque–inspired cocktail bar in Cobble Hill, a new pizzeria and bar in Red Hook, and a French-style restaurant on the Columbia Street Waterfront. New opening announcements have dropped, including Frita Batidos, a spot for Cuban-inspired street food in Williamsburg, Din Tai Fung’s first Brooklyn location in Downtown Brooklyn, Pura Vida coming to DUMBO, Gertie’s reopening in Prospect Heights, and the new cocktail bar Folk opening in Park Slope. This month’s restaurant closings

  • Starbucks is closing several Brooklyn cafes as part of a national restructuring, including locations in Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights, and East Williamsburg.
  • The Prospect Heights cocktail bar Parashades closed in late September.
  • Pisces Sushi & Fish Market in Park Slope has closed. The Foodtown supermarket next door will be expanding  into their space.
  • The Ethiopian restaurant Ghenet in Gowanus has closed.
  • The Calexico located at 122 Union Street, near the Columbia Street Waterfront, has closed its doors, but is still offering delivery. The Park Slope and Greenpoint locations remains open.
  • Marie’s Restaurant, an Italian American spot in Bushwick, closed it doors at the end of September.
  • Blue Hour, a halal takeout counter set up inside a Bushwick gas station, is closing after just 18 months in business. The owners also run Little Flower Cafe in Astoria, and have another restaurant in the works on Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights (in the former space of Fatoosh Pitza & Grill).
  • The Greenpoint pizzeria Rita’s Pizza & Provisions closed on October 19.
  • A pan-Asian cafe in Greenpoint called Sippy Cafe in Greenpoint closed this month.
  • Clover Hill, the Michelin-starred restaurant on Columbia Place in Brooklyn Heights, has quietly closed its doors.

This month’s restaurant openings

ABC Kitchens | DUMBO 

Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is opening his first Brooklyn restaurant inside Empire Stores, just steps from Jane’s Carousel and the East River waterfront. The new restaurant combines elements of ABC Kitchen, ABC Cocina, and the vegeterian abcV, with a menu highlighting favorites from all three—like Jean-Georges’s famous kale salad, peekytoe crab toast, green chickpea hummus, roast-carrot-and-avocado salad, arroz con pollo, pork tacos, and guacamole. For dessert, ABC Kitchens will offer tableside ice cream service in colorful cones. The 125-seat restaurant takes over the former Sugarcane space and features landmarked stone walls built from Brooklyn Bridge remnants. A spacious patio in Brooklyn Bridge Park offers outdoor dining with views of the bridge and the waterfront. Currently only open for dinner. Fishs Eddy Cafe | DUMBO

DUMBO’s new located of the beloved dishware shop Fishs Eddy features a cafe, serving drop coffee for just $2, espresso drinks, plus egg creams and root beer floats. Located on the corner of Washington & Front Streets, the cafe is open 10am-8pm Monday through Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sundays.

Black Bull | Brooklyn Heights

Floyd, the beloved Premier League pub with a bocce court that closed on Atlantic Avenue in December 2024, has found a new home just down the street in the former Bohemian Bar space. Vanessa Forster-Whalen, the familiar face of Floyd, leads the new spot, and has decorated it with plenty of British paraphernalia. Styled like a classic English pub, the bar has the cozy feel of a neighborhood hangout and features numerous TVs for sports. While the bar favors Newcastle United, it will show most Premier League games, as well as other major sporting events. Happy hour runs Monday–Friday from 3-6pm. Note that strollers aren’t allowed–it’s a bar best enjoyed by the grown-ups only.

Bar Rêve | Cobble Hill

Bar Rêve, a new cocktail bar inspired by the salons and soirées of Belle Époque Paris, opened earlier this month at 222 Smith Street. Open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 5pm to 12am (1am on weekends). Bar Rêve is quickly becoming a popular spot; make a reservation here.

Bolo Bolo Cafe and Bakery | Cobble Hill

This new café and bakery in Cobble Hill opened in early October, serving pastries, cakes, and seasonal drinks with South Asian Roots, such as a Sesame Hot Chocolate, Ras Malai Latte, or the London Fog. In addition to their various baked goods, you can also order custom cakes here. Open daily from 8am-6pm, except on Wednesdays.

Bar Lumière | Columbia St. Waterfront District

Bar Lumière has opened on the Columbia Street Waterfront at Columbia and Kane Street, offering a French-inspired menu from Michelin-starred Chef Steven Hubbell. The 80-seat restaurant serves seasonal dishes with a creative French twist, including crispy pig’s head, crab doughnuts, steak tartare, duck breast, and Bosc pear blancmange for dessert. The wine list is curated by Andre Mack—formerly a sommelier at Thomas Keller’s Per Se and The French Laundry, and cocktails feature local Brooklyn and New York spirits. The space also showcases artwork for sale on the walls, and the restaurant plans to have live DJ music on select nights.

Third Time’s the Charm | Red Hook | Opening October 24

Third Time’s the Charm is opening at 275 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, serving sourdough pizza alongside cocktails, beer, and wine by the carafe. The new spot comes from self-taught chef and former lawyer Chris Milazzo, previously behind the pop-up Bad Cholesterol Bakery, and will feature multiple styles of ovens. Open daily from 4–9pm; reservations available on Resy.

Ammazza Deli | Williamsuburg

The Italian restaurant Ammazzacaffè in Williamsburg now has a sister location, Ammazza Deli. Currently, they are serving coffee and pastries from 7am-4pm from their window, along with a limited menu of sandwiches, soups, pastas, and rotisserie chicken. Their door will open in November, offering fuller service.

Isla & Co. | Williamsburg 

Isla & Co., an Australian-inspired restaurant, is reopening this month at 66 Grand Street in Williamsburg. The spot will continue serving its Australian-influenced brunch and dinner dishes—like Kimchi Sambal Scramble, Pulled Pork Hash, Strawberry Cheesecake Waffles, Spicy Shrimp Vodka Rigatoni, Steak Frites, and Aussie Chicken Parma—alongside specialty coffee and creative cocktails, including an espresso martini flight (pictured below).

Boro Brine | Williamsburg

Now open at 109 South 6th Street in Williamsburg, Boro Brine is a seafood restaurant that has taken over the short-lived Japanese omakase restaurant and listening bar Hear & There. The menu includes seafood-forward dishes, from oysters to a Filet-O-Fish with skate to lobster pot pies. Drinks include wine and cocktails, and the sound system from Hear & There will remain in use.

Sushi Ajjo | Williamsburg

An intimate new Japanese omakase restaurant has opened at 340 Metropolitan Avenue, open Tuesday-Sunday from 5-10pm. Walk-ins and BYOB are both welcome. They are also open for private parties, events, and catering.

Good Days | Williamsburg

Now open on South 6th Street in Williamsburg, Good Days serves seasonal New American fare with a raw bar, small plates, and shareable mains. The menu begins with raw bar offerings like fresh oysters, Hamachi Crudo with brown butter yuzu vinaigrette, and shrimp and crab cocktails, followed by dishes such as Bottarga Linguini, Pan-Seared Duckwith cherry vinaigrette, and their House Burger. Owned by married duo Chef Stephany Burgos and Amanda Norton, the restaurant also showcases Amanda’s creative cocktail program featuring sesame-oil-washed tequila and mezcal drinks, a robust amaro list, and natural wines. The 2,000-square-foot space includes a front bar, skylit dining room, and a cozy back patio under the Williamsburg Bridge—complete with heaters, blankets, and a dog-friendly vibe. Good Days is open for dinner Wednesday–Sunday; reservations are available on Resy, with walk-ins always welcome.

Slap Burger | Bay Ridge

Slap Burger is a regional chain restaurant known for serving Halal food and their delicious smash burgers. Their first Brooklyn location just opened on 86th Street. In addition to burgers, they also serve chicken sandwiches and tenders, fries, mac n cheese, flavored lemonades, dessert puddings, and convenient family boxes.

Täzá Drizzle | Bay Ridge

A new cafè and juice bar has opened at 304 86th Street in Bay Ridge, serving coffee and juice, as well as pastries,  snacks, and sweets. Their signature drinks include a Spanish lattè, pistachio cream lattè, and caramel macchiato. They are open 7am-10pm on weekdays and 8am-10pm on weekends.

Sheel & Mashi | Bay Ridge

Sheel & Mashi just had its grand opening at the corner of 5th Avenue and Ovington Avenue in Bay Ridge. From Kuwait, this is Sheel & Mashi’s first US location that serves delicious Mediterranean Halal food. They offer a variety of meat and chicken sandwiches, falafel, fries, lemonades, and more.

Ziggy’s Roman Cafe | DUMBO | Opening Fall 2025

Opening soon in DUMBO, Ziggy’s Roman Cafe will serve Roman-style pizzas and traditional Roman dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant is being designed as a family-friendly dining option in the neighborhood, and will include a children’s play area on its mezzanine floor. Owner Igor Hadzismajlovic, also a founder of the cocktail bar Employees Only, is overseeing the project and its beverage program. Follow their progress on Instagram!

Pura Vida | DUMBO | Opening in 2026

The all-day café based out of Miami opened its first Brooklyn in Williamsburg this spring, and will open another outpost in DUMBO soon. The new cafe will be 4,000 square feet, located at 79 Front Street. Pura Vida focuses on health food, with avocado toast and egg dishes for breakfast, salads, wraps, and bowls for lunch, plus superfood smoothies, cold-pressed juices, and wellness shots to drink.

Mister Cheeks | Carroll Gardens | Opening November 2025

Mister Cheeks, founded by local Brooklyn parents, is coming soon to 347 Court Street in the former Enoteca space. This family-friendly all-day café will serve coffee and pastries in the morning—grabbed easily from their take-out window—followed by sandwiches, soups, salads, and rotisserie chicken all day, with plenty of grab-and-go options. Dinner will also highlight their rotisserie chicken, chicken schnitzel, and other mains. You’ll be able to either dine in or take any item off the menu to go, including fun snacks for kids and their homemade soft serve. Mister Cheeks hopes to celebrate their “soft serve opening” (coffee and soft serve from the takeout window) in late October, with their grand opening in November. Bar Ferdinando | Carroll Gardens | Opening November 2025

Sal Lamboglia, the chef behind Cafe Spaghetti, Sal Tang’s and Swoony’s, is opening Bar Ferdinando, a reimagining of the 120-year-old Ferdinando’s Focacceria, which closed last year. The new all-day spot will serve snacks, focaccia sandwiches, and classics like Sicilian rice balls, pane e panelle, and octopus salad, alongside an Italian-inspired cocktail program. The restaurant will preserve original artwork and fixtures from the historic restaurant as an homage to the neighborhood institution.

Hashi Market | Boerum Hill | Opening date TBA

Coming soon to 299 Atlantic Avenue is Hashi Market, an Asian grocer with locations in Union Square, Midtown, and Tribeca. They’ll have imported Japanese snacks, sushi, seafood and Wagyu beef, and much more.

Trudie’s Tavern | Carroll Gardens | Opening Winter 2025-26

The team behind Gertie (formerly in Williamsburg, now moving to Prospect Heights) will also open a new concept in Carroll Gardens, in the former home of Buttermilk Channel at 524 Court Street. The new spot will be called Trudie’s Tavern, and will serve steak and rotisserie chicken, burgers, chicken and waffles made with matzo, steak and seafood towers, and more. They’ll also have a kid’s menu!

Dos Toros Taqueria | Boerum Hill | Opening date TBA

The fast-casual Mexican food chain Dos Toros is opening a new location at One Boerum Place, coming soon! Stay tuned for an opening date and more details.

Din Tai Fung | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening 2027

Din Tai Fung has announced that they will open a second New York City location in Downtown Brooklyn, expected in 2027. The Michelin-starred Taiwanese dim sum restaurant will open in The Brook development at 567 Fulton Street.

Aldi | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening November 5

Aldi is opening a new location in November at 625 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Aldi is a budget-friendly supermarket known for its curated selection of private-label and select national-brand products, including fresh produce, dairy, meats, pantry staples, frozen foods, and household essentials. Didi’s Pizza and Wine Bar | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening in 2026

Bond St Coffee | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening Fall 2025

A new 8-story development on the border of DUMBO & Downtown Brooklyn will be the new home of Didi’s Pizza and Wine Bar, which is expected to open in early 2026 and will serve pizza, wine, and cocktails. The pizzeria will join Bond St Coffee at 203 Jay Street, which is due to open this fall.

Golden Ratio | Clinton Hill | Opening Fall 2025

Redwood Hospitality, the team behind Café Mado, Place des Fêtes, and Laurel Bakery, is opening a new cocktail bar at 216 1/2 Greene Avenue. Every drink on the menu can be ordered either hard or “soft,” with zero alcohol. They will also serve a menu of veggie-forward bar snacks.

Athena Keke’s | Clinton Hill | Opening Fall 2025

Coming soon to Greene Avenue, Athena Keke’s is a sports bar celebrating women’s sports. Part of the NY Liberty Bar Network, it will host live games and be kid-friendly during the day.

Tous les Jours | Clinton Hill | Opening date TBA

A new location of the French-Asian bakery Tous les Jours is coming to 536 Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill, next to Club Pilates Clinton Hill. It will take over the former Khim’s Millennium Market space and serve fresh bread, pastries, coffee, and drinks.

Gertie | Prospect Heights | Opening November 2025

Gertie, which closed in Williamsburg earlier this year, will reopen in Prospect Heights in November with a new counter-deli concept. Expect bagels, hot-smoked fish, pastrami and corned beef, plus salads, and sandwiches. While they will close early evening, they plan to host occasional pop-ups at night. They will also have a full liquor license.

Folk | Park Slope | Opening Fall 2025

The team behind the Park Slope restaurant Lore is opening a new cocktail bar at 689 6th Avenue. Folk will serve both craft cocktails and small plates by chef Jay Kumar (also of Lore in Park Slope) in a 1,000-square-foot space. In addition to cocktails, the food menu will feature Indian flatbreads and UK-style pot pie.

Il Leone | Park Slope | Opening Fall 2025

Il Leone, a popular pizza popup hailing from Peaks Island, Maine, is opening a new Brooklyn location on 7th Avenue between First and Garfield, in the former Bar Vinazo space. It will have an open kitchen and a large backyard. Founded by NYC native Ben Wexler-Waite, the restaurant will serve naturally-leavened, wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas with locally sourced ingredients, including specialty pies like zucchini and squash blossom, asparagus, and lobster. Italian wines, cocktails, spritzes, and Maine beers will also be available.

K-Slope | Park Slope

Steve’s C-Town on 9th Street suddenly closed in late September, to the neighborhood’s dismay, eliminating one of the neighborhood’s most affordable grocery options. A new supermarket is arriving in its place, called K-Slope.

Thursday Bread Coffee | Park Slope | Opening Winter 2025-26

A new bakery serving Swedish breads and pastries is coming to Park Slope this winter. They will serve Nordic-inspired coffee and light bites in addition to breads and baked goods. The bakery will be located at 140 5th Avenue.

Roast Coffee | Park Slope | Opening date TBA

Based out of Murray Hill, Roast Coffee has announced that they will open a new location on Prospect Park West.

Lincoln Station | Park Slope | Opening date TBA

Lincoln Station, the cafe location not far from the Brooklyn Museum in Prospect Heights, will open a new outpost in Park Slope, in the ormer Bare Burger space on 7th Avenue. In addition to coffee and cafe fare, the Prospect Heights location also serves draft beer, wine, and kombucha on tap.

Vato | Park Slope | Opening Fall 2025

The team behind Michelin-starred Corima is opening a new Northern Mexico-inspired spot at 226 7th Ave in Park Slope. The daytime menu will include Chihuahuan-style burritos, Mexican pastries, coffee, and their famous sourdough flour tortillas, while evenings will feature a Basque- and Mexican-influenced sit-down menu paired with natural wines. The space includes an open kitchen and a backyard patio.

Psta | Park Slope | Opening date TBA

This new pasta shop is coming soon 210 Flatbush Avenue, to the former space of Thermostat Cafe. It will be a fast-casual restaurant serving both lunch and dinner at affordable prices.

La Merced | Park Slope | Opening date TBA

La Merced, a Mexican-inspired juice bar based in Greenpoint, is opening soon at 86 Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, taking over the former Miss American Pie space. The shop will serve cold-pressed juices, smoothies, açaí bowls, soups, salads, sandwiches, and small plates like shrimp tostadas.

Mariscos El Submarino | New location in Park Slope | Opening date TBA

This Mexican seafood joint based in Jackson Heights recently expanded to Greenpoint, and its newest location opened in Clinton Hill this month. Next up will be a new outpost at 226 7th Avenue in Park Slope.

Xi’an Famous Foods | Park Slope

A new location of Xi’an Famous Foods is going to Park Slope, on Flatbush Avenue & Dean Street.

Lidl | Park Slope | Opening date TBA

Paseo on Fifth, a new Park Slope development with two luxury apartment buildings, will have a brand-new Lidl grocery store, in the former space of a Key Foods. Similar to Trader Joe’s and Aldi, Lidl offers a broad assortment of products, including its 49-cent butter croissants, private-label Butcher’s Specialty meats, and Bon Gelati mini ice cream bars. Shoppers can also find gourmet favorites like frozen tiramisu, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, and authentic prosciutto.

Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop | Gowanus | Opening date TBA

The beloved Greenpoint slice shop is slated to open a new location in Gowanus. It will be located in the former home of Ample Hills at 305 Nevins Street. Stay tuned for more updates!

Hōp | Red Hook | Opening Fall 2025

Two former staff members of Red Hook Tavern (and husband-and-wife team) will open a new Cambodian restaurant at 58 Van Brunt Street in late 2025. For now, they are offering a pop-up at Runner Up in Park Slope, Wednesdays–Sundays 5-9:30pm. Book here!

Frø Bakehouse | Red Hook | Opening date TBA

Frø Bakehouse, run by sisters Maya and Eva Ebbesen, will serve seeded Danish rye bread. The space will also host events after-hours.

New Bookstore in Macon Hardware Digs | Bed-Stuy

Journalist Nikole Hannah Jones will open a bookstore and bar in the former home of the storied Macon Hardware in Bed-Stuy. A long-standing Black-owned business, Hannah-Jones said she was honored to continue that legacy, and plans to make it a literary salon and creative spaces for writers.

Blazers Sports Bar | Williamsburg | Opening Winter 2025-26

Blazers is a women’s sports bar opening on Bedford avenue, in the Old Man Hustle comedy club space. Everyone loves women’s sports, now you have a place to watch all the games, look for it to open in 2026.

Cafe Landwer | Williamsburg | Opening early 2026

Cafe Landwer, a Berlin based restaurant, is coming to Williamsburg in early 2026, taking over the space next to the Pod hotel. They started as a coffeehouse in Berlin and have expanded into dining over the past 80 years serving Mediterranean fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Frita Batidos | Williamsburg | Opening October 29

Michigan-based Frita Batidos is opening soon at 334 Kent Ave in Williamsburg’s Domino Park, serving Cuban-style burgers (fritas) on soft egg buns and tropical milkshakes (batidos). Fritas come in chorizo, black bean, chicken, fish, and beef, each with a signature mayo. Batidos are made with fresh fruit, crushed ice, and sweetened milk. The menu also features loaded plantains with black beans, cheese, salsa, avocado, and crème fraîche, plus “The Best Snack Ever,” layered with coconut-ginger rice, black beans, cheese, and salsa.

The Goods Mart | Williamsburg | Opening Fall/Winter 2025

The Goods Mart, a convenience store focused on healthy snacks, drinks, pantry staples, is coming later this year to Williamsburg Wharf, the new 3.75-acre mixed-use waterfront development at 470 Kent Avenue. This will be the female-owned shop’s first location in Williamsburg.

New Restaurant by Chef Eyal Shani | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA

The renowned Israeli Chef Eyal Shani will also open a new restaurant at Williamsburg Wharf. The restaurant will occupy 4,000 square feet on the ground floor at 470 Kent Avenue. Some of Chef Shani’s restaurants have included Port Sa’id, Michelin-starred Shmoné, HaSalon, Miznon, and the Kosher-certified restaurant Malka, with NYC locations on the Upper West Side and in DUMBO. Breads Bakery | Williamsburg Wharf | Opening in 2026

Following their recent opening at the new Pier 1 Pavilion in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Breads Bakery announced that they will open another Brooklyn waterfront location at Williamsburg Wharf. Breads is best known for their chocolate babka, plus croissants, baguettes, and more baked goods.

Allegretto | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA

From the team behind Francie, this new spot at 132 Broadway will serve Neapolitan pizzas, Southern Italian snacks, and more dishes like Fried Bucatini and Little Gem Caesar, plus Italian-inspired cocktails and wine on tap. The space will feature a wood-fired oven and a garden backyard.

Lidl | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA

A 27,0000-square-foot location of Lidl is slated to open on the ground floor of 597 Grand Street in Williamsburg. The new store will occupy a mixed-use retail and residential building between Leonard and Lorimer Streets, which was also the former site of a Key Foods.

Santa Chiara | Greenpoint | Opening Fall 2025

Santa Chiara’s Greenpoint location is scheduled to open in the Fall 2025 along the waterfront. Like its counterpart in Long Island City, this location will also offer gelato but with a more extensive food menu, including items like breakfast sandwiches, paninis, salads, baked goods, charcuterie boards, plus wine and cocktails.

Border Town | Greenpoint | Opening October 2025

Border Town, the popular breakfast taco pop-up, is expanding into a 40-seat casual restaurant at 189 Nassau Street. Mornings will feature tacos made with their famous tortillas, along with breakfast burritos, aguas frescas, and Mexican pastries. Dinner will include botanas and cocktails like micheladas and mezcalitas made with agave spirits such as mezcal, tequila, and bacanora.
