Recycle your Christmas tree in the neighborhood

Bring your holiday tree to one of the local parks for mulching this week! As an extra bonus, you can take home some mulch to help care for your street trees.

Cobble Hill Park

Saturday, January 7th & Sunday January 8th
9:30am-1:30pm

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Join NYC Parks and Brooklyn Bridge Park to recycle your tree into wood chips that can be used to nourish your garden beds at home or in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Drop off your tree early, or bring it the day of chipping, to watch your tree be turned into helpful mulch. Bags of mulch will be available to take home. Drop your tree off at any of the following locations between December 26th – January 8th. Look for the designated areas near these locations:

Fort Greene Park

From now through Sunday, January 8, drop off your Christmas tree at the Washington Park and Myrtle Ave entrance to the park. Trees will not be accepted at any other entrance. You can also pick up tree mulch on chipping weekend, from Saturday, January 7 to Sunday, January 8.

Christmas Tree Collection

The Department of Sanitation will collect clean, non-bagged trees left on the curb weather permitting starting on Friday, January 6 through Saturday, January 14, 2023. City residents should remove all tree stands, tinsel, lights and ornaments from trees before they are put out for collection.
