Welcome to SUMMER @ BASIS Independent Brooklyn, home of the Bears! Our weekly camps provide your child with opportunities to learn new skills, meet new friends, and find new interests through hands-on activities, from science and nature exploration to creative and performance arts, sports, and games. Our camp program also supports development of social and emotional skills through intentional connection and activities, like our daily Camp Opening with activities designed to build community and start each day of camp off on a positive note. Campers can expect to participate in the following activities:
SCIENCE EXPLORATION
Campers explore the exciting world of science, technology,
engineering, art and math (STEAM) through building
projects, experiments, and design challenges. Sharing ideas, asking
questions, and making predictions are encouraged!
GAMES & CHALLENGES
Free play and structured games help campers learn sportsmanship
and develop their physical strength and endurance. Campers learn
critical thinking and problem solving by participating in competitive
games and team challenges with their peers.
ARTS & CRAFTS
Campers express themselves by participating in hands-on visual arts
activities, including crafting, drawing, and painting. Campers develop
planning skills by working on projects with their peers and
participating in group performances or discussions.
SPECIAL EVENTS
From Magic Shows to Carnivals, each week culminates in a special
event inspired by the weekly theme. This special event is like no other –
every Friday is a unique experience!
COMMUNITY BUILDING
Social and emotional growth is nurtured through activities that
promote a feeling of community and belonging. Every week, campers
gather for a camp-wide assembly, where they work together to drum
up camp spirit and celebrate each other’s wins.
From our home in Downtown Brooklyn, we take advantage of the vibrant local community by visiting nearby green spaces and taking field trips to local attractions.
