Summer construction update for the BQE

Summer construction update for the BQE

The disruptive and noisy work to remove concrete pavement on the BQE is expected to begin in July 31. For sound mitigation during jack hammering, the contractor will use noise reducing tent enclosures comprised of sound blankets and smaller equipment to the extent possible. In addition, single-lane weeknight closures from 12:01 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. on the Queens-bound BQE will begin on July 20 and will continue for about eight weeks.

Work on the Columbia Street ramps is anticipated to be complete by July 28 but DOT is working with the contractor to condense the schedule and open the sidewalk and ramps earlier if possible.
