Program Details: AquaBeba teaches children from infants on up the fundamentals of swimming in a safe and comfortable water environment. Its program—the brainchild of Olympic swimmer-turned-Brooklyn dad, Danilo Krvavac—emphasizes helping children feel comfortable, confident, and secure in the water. Group and private lessons are available for infants, toddlers and kids.

Berkeley Carroll School Community Swim | Park Slope

Program Details: The Bongsoon Zubay Athletic Center is open to the community for recreational use during early mornings, evenings, and weekends (September through July). They offer a variety of membership options in addition to group classes for children, family swim and Lap swim. Berkeley Carroll is committed to providing educational programs that engage, challenge, and foster fundamental swimming skills.

Program Details: Swimming lessons at Physique Swim School CBE aim to teach swimming as a life skill. Little ones and parents are welcomed into the water for parent-and-me classes, and older kids can graduate to group lessons and stroke clinics that prep big kids to join a local swim team.

Program Details: Dodge YMCA offers swim classes for infants, kids and teenagers. Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness. Children learn water safety, basic swimming competency, and progress through levels as they develop skills. Students learn personal water safety, achieve basic swimming competency, and progress to learn about the four competitive swimming strokes. The lessons are constantly adapted and structured around the fluid development of every young swimmer for 30 “active” minutes. The “Classic” Imagine class, for children has a 1:4, 1:2 or 1:1 teacher/student ratio. This class size provides the highest quality atmosphere for both skill development and social interaction. This full-sized lap pool includes a 7’6″ deep end, state-of-the-art water treatment systems, and spacious locker room and viewing areas. The Crown Heights Armory pool hosts swim lessons for all ages; lap swim; swim team practices; synchronized swimming; aqua aerobics; lifeguard training, and much more. Program Details: Children’s Academy at LIU Brooklyn will offer a full morning of swim classes for all ages 2 – 12. Classes for all skill levels. Manhattan Youth Swim School | Tribeca

Program Details: The Manhattan Youth Swim School at the Downtown Community Center provides small-group, child-centered swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. The program promotes safety, fun, and friendship, taught through a progressive “Learn-to-Swim” curriculum. Downtown Community Center features a full length 25-yard pool, kept at a warm and inviting 86-88 degrees – perfect for families and young children. Center Members are able to access daily Family Swim and Adult Lap Swim hours, as well as complimentary pool and pool-side classes for infants and toddlers throughout the week.

Take Me to the Water Swim School | Fort Greene

Program Details: Group lessons for 5 years and older, classes are either 30 or 45 minutes with an average group size of 3 students in each class. Private Swim Lessons are offered with one instructor with one student for a half hour. Private lessons usually start with students no younger than 2.5 years of age and older. Repetitive instruction and movements, warm water and patience are the key ingredients for these classes. Developing physical and mental memory creates balance and comfort which are the skill platforms for learning. Baby and Me group class for infants and toddlers age 6 months to 2.5 years. Classes run for 30 minutes and include up to six infants. Creative games are used to teach infants breath control, big arm movements, and leg kicks. Using songs, floating mats, and toys, the classes are structured to help engage your child and most importantly, encourage fun! Depending on the classes start level some of the techniques learned include: total body submerging, glides, coordinated breathing, multiple stroke techniques including front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Students are inspired by both the others in the class and their instructors, as they all move forward to the next group goal.
