The Art Annex | Park Slope
Program Details: The Art Annex in Park Slope offers visual art programming of all ages: early childhood (18 months – 4 years), K – 5th Grade, and 6th – 12th Grade and adults. Classes offered include a wide array of themes and media. They also offer camps, birthday parties, and more!
Ages: 18 months and up
Costs: Early childhood semesters are $287 each on Tuesdays and $238 or $170 on Fridays and Saturdays, with drop-ins at $38-$42 and $20 off if you book both halves together. K-5 after-school is $780 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, $880 on Thursdays, $940 on Mondays and $364 for the new one-hour Friday classes. For older students, 6th-7th grade Portfolio Prep is $595 and the 8th Grade Portfolio Intensive is $905, with single portfolio workshops at $75. School pickup is $156-$168 per semester, or $12 a class, booked separately.
Fall 2026: The fall semester runs September 10 to December 23, closing only for Thanksgiving, and registration is open. Pickup runs daily from PS 10 and on selected days from PS 107, PS 39 and PS 321. Worth knowing: the Annex says its 9th-12th grade classes have not drawn enough enrollment to run, so in practice the older offering tops out at 8th grade portfolio work.

Artshack Brooklyn | Bed Stuy
Program Details: Artshack Brooklyn is a nonprofit ceramics studio in Bed Stuy. We are an anti-racist, queer-affirming organization that celebrates the creativity of youth and honors people of all abilities. We believe in the healing powers of clay! Artshack offers afterschool classes (with school pickups form A&L 305 United and PS 56), community days with free studio time, pre-teen classes, kid-friendly classes on the weekends, and school holiday camps.
Ages: Family classes are for all ages, 1 and up. Afterschool classes are 5 and up. Pre-teen classes are for ages 9-12.
Costs: Family Clay Time is $50 a class. After-school tuition is quoted at registration, and Artshack offers scholarships, reduced tuition, a 10% sibling discount and two-instalment payment plans.

Artuta Art School @ Tappeto Volante Gallery | Park Slope
Program Details: Artuta is a Brooklyn-based art school for all ages featuring classes taught by working, professional artists. Our student-centered teaching methodology fosters creativity, concentration and problem-solving. Artuta’s classes build in time for discussion and reflection, so, in addition to an expanded skill set, even experienced students will come away with a deeper relationship with their artistic practice. In-person classes take place at Tappeto Volante, an art gallery in Park Slope. Artuta Art School also offers Summer Art Camp, Portfolio Support, and Private Instruction. Art Workshop Experience (AWE) | DUMBO
Program Details: Art Workshop Experience (AWE) is for teens and tweens who love to make art. We offer after school classes during the school year and a summer program with seven individual sessions (weeks) to choose from. We specialize in portfolio preparation for art high schools and colleges. Students can explore a wide variety of art forms and mediums. Students build traditional art skills while learning new techniques and approaches to art-making. AWE is an Inclusive studio environment located in DUMBO Brooklyn, NY.

Program Details: This neighborhood art studio is now in its 17th year! Barking Cat’s award-winning children’s art workshops are built on fun and engaging art principles combined with unique project concepts we know kids will enjoy. Program Details: An after-school art studio for elementary-age children, running drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media alongside homework support, a snack and outdoor play. There is also a portfolio-prep track for children applying to art-focused middle schools.
Ages: Grades K-5
Costs: Tuition is monthly, billed in ten instalments from September to June: $175 for one day a week, $350 for two, $510 for three, $650 for four and $780 for five, with a 10% sibling discount. Portfolio prep is $50 a day, taken a la carte.

Brooklyn Museum Studio Art Programs | Prospect Heights
Program Details: The Brooklyn Museum offers a wide array of fun and appealing art courses for families, children, teens, and adults. Be inspired and guided by professional teaching artists, see our collections in a new way, and create your own art with new and traditional materials. All levels of experience welcome! Choplet Ceramic Studio & Gallery | Williamsburg
Program Details: Choplet Ceramic Studio offers ceramic classes and clay studio space in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The studio offers an After School Kids, Tweens & Teens Clay Program. This ceramic program is specially geared towards fun and artistic discovery. In our friendly & relaxed environment, your child will gain knowledge & confidence in the arts, while learning creative thinking. Children will gain the experience of working in a professional pottery studio and will learn to use the potters wheel as well as hand building/sculpting techniques. Multiple surface decoration approaches will be demonstrated and applied. No prior experience is required! Choplet also offers Kids & Teens Ceramic Camps during the summer.

Program Details: ClayHouse is a community pottery studio in Cobble Hill that offers classes for kids ages 6-16 including afterschool wheel throwing, handbuilding, and summer camps. ClayHouse also offers special workshops, one-time family classes, and private lessons if you’re interested in giving pottery a try!

Program Details: ColorLab is Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s art-making space where artists of all ages can explore, make, and celebrate art. ColorLab programs are rooted in the creative works and cultures of Black artists. Each month our projects are inspired by a muse artist’s work and practice. Families have the opportunity to explore print-making, collage and sculpture projects inspired by artists such as Chakaia Booker, Romare Bearden, Faith Ringgold and Kehinde Wiley, among others. ColorLab is open Wednesday through Friday afternoons from 2:15 to 5pm, and weekends from 10:15am to 5pm. Program Details: Little Makers Art Studio is an art school in Prospect Heights that offers After-School Programs, Workshops, and Art Play Sessions for kids aged 2-12. Program Details: PLAYDAY is the place for children to experience the joy of making art in a fun, safe, clean, supportive, and collaborative studio environment. Grown Up & Me classes (aka Gum Art & Sensory) activities for children are offered for ages 1-4. Our 60 minute Art 5+ drop-in activities, such as Drawing & Painting, Water Color World, Sculpture, Fiber Frenzy, Cartooning, Little Architects, and many others are offered daily Monday-Friday all year round. Pratt Saturday Art School | Clinton Hill
Program Details: Since 1897, Pratt Institute’s Saturday Art School has been offering a broad range of classes for children and teens. Saturday Art School students are encouraged to explore a variety of media, techniques, and approaches. Most classes are taught by art and design education students who are supervised by faculty. All classes meet from 10 AM–12 PM for two 10-week semesters, fall and spring. Instructors explore new ideas and projects each semester and year, as participants may take classes many times. Private Picassos | Clinton Hill
Program Details: Private Picassos is an art studio for kids in Clinton Hill. They offer drop-in art making seven days a week from September 8, weekly classes for kids 1.5-10 years, art playgroups for babies 12-18 months, birthday parties, private classes, camps, and more! There is even a special reading nook for kids to take an art break, space for grown-ups to relax comfortably, and a retail section with goodies for kids of all ages. Their original Park Slope location closed in August 2025 and everything now runs from the Clinton Hill studio.
Fall 2026: The studio closes August 30 to September 7 to prepare for the fall and reopens on Tuesday, September 8. The fall semester for babies, toddlers and pre-K runs September 14 to December 18, with no classes on September 21, October 12, November 11 or Thanksgiving week. After-school runs September 14 to January 28, 17 to 19 weeks, with optional pickup from PS 9, PS 11, PS 56 and PS 20 and extended day to 6pm; sign up for three or four days and save 10%. There is also a free Story Time on Tuesdays from 11 to 11:30am.

Textile Arts Center | Park Slope
Program Details: Textile Arts Center is a studio offering youth classes in weaving, sewing, printing & dyeing, and more. After-School classes include weaving, sewing & soft sculpture, sewing & fashion, and printing & dyeing. Textiles for Tweens programs give students full access to the dye lab, screen printing facilities, sewing machines, looms, and more. Textile Arts Center also offers Mini Camps and Summer Camps.
Ages: 5-10 for after-school; 11-14 for Textiles for Tweens
Costs: Classes start at $625 for eight weeks, with a 10% sibling discount, $25 off each additional session booked at the same time, and scholarships available
Fall 2026: The 2026/27 schedule is posted and the first cycle runs September to November: Sewing & Fashion on Mondays, Weaving on Tuesdays, Printing & Dyeing on Wednesdays and Sewing & Soft Sculpture on Thursdays. Sessions run 3 to 5:45pm, with snack and homework time until 4. Pickup runs from PS 321, PS 372, PS 282, PS 133, PS 118, PS 39, Brooklyn Collaborative and Poly Prep, depending on the day.
