Where to ice skate in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan this winter | Brooklyn Bridge Parents

Ice skating season has not started yet. Every outdoor rink in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan closed in the spring, and as of late September none of them has published its opening date for the 2026-27 season — most say only that they will be back from November. The one rink you can skate on right now is the rooftop roller rink at Brooklyn Children’s Museum, which opens on October 1 and is at the bottom of this guide. Everything below carries last season’s dates and prices so you know roughly what to expect, clearly marked, and we update it as each rink posts. Watch in particular for the free sessions for NYC residents at Roebling Rink under the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn Bridge Park! Each rink usually adds skating lessons, hockey, live performances and visits from Santa once its season is announced.

Roebling Rink | Brooklyn Bridge Park | 2026-27 DATES NOT YET POSTED

The rink on Emily Warren Roebling Plaza, under the Brooklyn Bridge, says in as many words that it is closed for the season, and it has not posted a return date. Last season it ran from November 24 to February 1, and it is the one to watch if you want the free resident tickets. Last season, for reference. Admission is $16, with a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more. Skates ($8), helmets ($5), and skate aids ($5) are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. The rink operates daily with 2-hour sessions—Mondays to Thursdays from 2–9pm and Fridays to Sundays from 10am–10pm. The rink will also offer lessons through Firework Skating Academy, purchased separately. Bonus for locals–Roebling Rink will offer NYC residents a limited quantity of free tickets during sessions one, two, and three on Mondays–Thursdays, and sessions two, three, four on Fridays (schedule below). Free tickets are issued on a first-come, first-serve walk-up basis, with valid ID to show residency.

Lakeside’s covered and open-air rinks overlooking Prospect Park Lake are closed. The LeFrak Center’s own page says the winter season is over and that it will share updates as it prepares to return to the ice toward the end of 2026 — the nearest thing to a date any of the ice rinks has given. Last season it opened on November 1. Public skating runs daily, with daytime sessions Monday–Thursday from 1:30–5:45pm, Friday from 1:30–5:15pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12–4:45pm, and evening sessions on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is $10 ($8 for seniors on weekdays), with $5 Monday specials and $15 for evening and holiday sessions; skate rentals are $10. Programs include skating school, figure skating, hockey, and private lessons. The rink also hosts special events, including Skate with Santa on select weekends in December. The Duck Island Café and Bar offers food and drinks with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the lake. Learn more here!

Abe Stark Rink | Coney Island | 2026-27 DATES NOT YET POSTED

The Abe Stark Rink sits on the Coney Island Boardwalk at West 19th Street. NYC Parks still lists weekend public skating from 12:30–3:30pm and admission of $14 for adults, seniors and children alike, $7 for skate rental and $15 for a skate-assist sled. Treat the holiday schedule on that page as provisional, though: it names Election Day as November 4 and Martin Luther King Jr. Day as January 19, which were the 2025-26 dates, so the city has not refreshed it for this season. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

SKATE at Domino Park | Williamsburg | 2026-27 DATES NOT YET POSTED

The Williamsburg waterfront rink is closed — every day on its schedule reads CLOSED — but Domino Park is already taking enquiries for 2026-27 birthday parties, lessons and season passes at skate@dominopark.com, which is the earliest signal you will get of a reopening date. Last season it ran November 10 to February 22, and for reference it looked like this. The Williamsburg waterfront rink operates Monday–Friday from 2:30–9pm and weekends and holidays from 10:30am–9pm, with 75-minute skating sessions. Skates are available to rent in sizes from youth 9 to adult 13, and a limited number of penguin skate aids are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Verizon customers and New York City residents can receive half-price admission and rentals on select Wednesdays and Thursdays in November and December by visiting the Verizon booth for a coupon. The rink will also host birthday parties and feature programming such as DJ nights, holiday events, kids’ activities, and live performances. New this year, food vendors Stretch Pizza and Frita Batidos will serve rinkside.

The Rink at Brookfield Place | Lower Manhattan | RETURNS IN NOVEMBER

Returns in November, exact date not yet posted | last season: $15 admission on weekdays, $17 on weekends | $5–$7 skate rental

The Rink at Brookfield Place is closed for the season, and its own site says it is back in November without naming a day — the only one of these five to commit even to a month. Last season, for reference. Public skating runs Monday–Friday from 2–9:15pm and weekends and holidays from 9am–9:15pm, with one-hour sessions throughout the day. Admission is $15 on weekdays and $17 on weekends and holidays, with skate rentals available for $5–$7. Skate aids are available on a first-come, first-served basis for an additional fee. Lessons, including private and semi-private sessions with Olympian skaters Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov, as well as birthday parties, can be booked in advance.

Roller Rink at Brooklyn Children’s Museum | Crown Heights | OPENS OCTOBER 1

October 1, 2026–April 11, 2027 | Wednesday–Friday 2–5pm, Saturday–Sunday 10am–5pm | $15 museum admission plus $10 to skate with rental skates or $8 with your own ($8 and $6 for members) | ages 3 and up

The one rink you can actually use this autumn. Brooklyn Children’s Museum brings its rooftop roller rink back on Thursday, October 1 — moved from September 26 because of the weather — and runs it through April 11. Helmets and wrist guards are required and provided; you can bring your own quad skates, but rollerblades are not allowed. It is built for skating with your children rather than watching from the rail, and the museum sets the floor at age 3. Private parties and weather can close the rink, so check your date before you travel. Members skate free all opening weekend, October 3–4.
