A flurry of exciting openings have arrived in Williamsburg & Greenpoint, including a youth basketball training facility, a Mandarin-immersion preschool, a new daycare, a music school, new restaurants and cafés, plus some new ways to sauna. Coming still this fall: a new Padelhaus location, classes and workshops at The Pottery Studio, and a new location of the Long Island City café Santa Chiara on the Greenpoint waterfront.
Greenpoint Academy of Music & Arts | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN
The Greenpoint Academy of Music and Arts (GAMA) opened this month and offers private and group lessons in guitar, drums, piano, vocals, and bass for children, teens, and adults. After-school programs run from 3–6pm, and GAMA also offers music lessons for babies and toddlers, focusing on rhythm, sound, and movement, held every Monday and Wednesday from 9:45–10:30am and 10:45–11:30am in McGolrick Park. The Program NYC Youth Basketball Training Facility | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN
The Program is a new state-of-the-art basketball training facility opening at 255 Java Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Spanning 12,500 square feet, it features regulation courts, weight and turf areas, a recovery room, a film room, and more for players ages 6-18. The Program is dedicated to developing young players through elite coaching and specialized training. Adults can also inquire about a program for players 18+. This neighborhood favorite has found a new home at Scrappleland after they lost their lease due to rent hike. They are now permanently open for Korean fried chicken and other fare (burgers, plus some vegetarian options and sweets).
Mikado | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN
The small Manhattan chain Mikado sushi has recently opened on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint. Taking over the cozy space from former inhabitant Citreon, Mikado is offering both lunch and dinner with fresh and delicious sushi offerings.
Kuei Luck Early Childhood Center | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN
Kuei Luck Early Childhood Center’s new Greenpoint Campus, located at 171 Calyer Street in Greenpoint, serves children ages 6 months to 5 years with a Mandarin-immersion, play-based program. The school has modern classrooms, a spacious indoor play area. Educators guide hands-on learning through art, music, storytelling, and sensory activities. Santa Chiara | Greenpoint | Coming Fall 2025
Santa Chiara’s Greenpoint location is scheduled to open in the Fall/Winter of 2025 along the waterfront. As its counterpart in LIC, this location will also offer gelato but with a more extensive food menu, including items like breakfast sandwiches, paninis, salads, baked goods, charcuterie boards, plus wine and cocktails.
