Free Holiday tree lighting events and Santa visits are coming up in various neighborhoods including Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Carroll Gardens, Fort Greene and Park Slope.
Atlantic Avenue Tree Lighting | Boerum Hill | 11/23

Park Slope Tree Lighting | 11/27
The family-friendly event will feature music, arts activities, treats and a visit from Santa and his elf. Entertainment includes stilt-walking steel drum band Tropical Fete; Dr. Alex performing his kid-friendly silly songs on guitar; giant bubble blower extraordinaire Bubbledad, plus art activities provided by Park Slope Parents. 5th Avenue and 4th Street in Park Slope on Saturday, 11/27 from 4.30 to 6 pm, tree lighting at 6 pm sharp.
Holiday moms’ night out | Dumbo | 12/1
Brooklyn Bridge Parents and This is Latin America have partnered up to host a holiday moms’ night out to connect with fellow mothers, enjoy a taste of Mexican cuisine, have a drink together and explore the handcrafted Mexican collection at DUMBO’s new artisanal market. The free event for moms and mother-like figures (no kids) will take place on Wednesday, December 1st from 6.30 to 8.30 pm. RSVP here.
Tree Lighting and pictures with Santa | DUMBO | 12/2
The DUMBO Improvement District is hosting its Annual Tree Lighting in the Pearl Street Triangle (across from Dumbo Archway) on Thursday, December 2 at 5:30pm. Community members are invited to an assortment of free and festive additional activities in the Archway and the Pearl Street Triangle from 4 to 7pm, which include performances by Brooklyn-based steel drum band Jah Pan playing Calypso music; Christmas covers by Curtis J. Social and the Dumbo house band; and appearances by the PS307 Diamonds and Dock Street Middle School cheerleaders, pictures with Santa Claus, a photobooth, building giant lego creations and free hot cocoa. Attendees can bring an unwrapped toy for a child, ages infant to 14, to the toy drive, which will be given to the 84th Precinct. Families can also donate used coats in good condition that will be given to the 84th Precinct and New York Cares Coat Drive. There will also be a food drive for the Vinegar Hill Food Pantry.
Carroll Park Holiday Tree Lighting | Carroll Gardens | 12/3
The annual holiday tree lighting at Carroll Park will take place on December 3 from 4.30 to 6 pm. At the Court Street end of the ball field. Music starting at 4.30 pm, lighting at 5 pm. Possible visit by a bearded gent in a red suit!
Fort Greene Park Holiday Tree Lighting | 12/5
FREE hot cocoa, cider & cookies from local Myrtle Ave restaurants during the Fort Greene Park tree lighting on Sunday 12/5 from 4 to 5 pm. Selfies with Santa! Toy drive collection. Bring new, unwrapped toys to support toy drives that serve local families. Live holiday music. Lighting of the tree at 4:45pm! The lighting this year will take place at the northwest corner of Fort Greene Park, near the Myrtle Ave & St Edwards St entrance.
Gingerbread house decorating | CityPoint | 12/5 & 12/12
Kids ages 3 to 12 are invited to decorate and design their own gingerbread houses with royal icing colors and decorative elements such as sanding sugar and candy. Participants will be able to take home their creation in boxes we provide and One Girl Cookies will be on site to support the decorating process. Each child needs a ticket ($10) to attend. This is not a drop-off event, parents/caregivers need to stay on site. Everybody has to wear a face covering and grown-ups will be required to show proof of vaccination. The events will take place on the main floor (across the hall from McNally Jackson bookstore). This event series is part of the Holiday Makers Show at City Point decorated with festive holiday decor, over 40 vendors featuring Black-owned and women-owned businesses, and a 360 GlamCam by ShopShops for photo-ops with a hip & stylish Santa Claus.
Tree Lighting | Brooklyn Heights | 12/15
The Brooklyn Heights Garden Club is hosting a tree lighting ceremony on the Promenade at the foot of Montague street on Wednesday, December 15 at 5:30 pm. Grace Chorale of Brooklyn and Santa Claus will be there.
