A much needed coffee shop is coming to Jay Street, beloved yoga studio Abhaya Yoga is back, a new tavern on an old FDNY fireboat will dock at Pier 1 and a DUMBO mom opens a jewelry store.
Colombian coffee specialist Decoction Coffee will open a coffee shop with indoor and possibly outdoor seating at Jay and York soon. Colombian-born Steven Sutton launched Devoción to produce the freshest coffee imaginable — roasting provides only half of coffee’s flavor, while mere freshness of the beans does the rest of the work. That’s why the Devoción team does everything short of picking the cherry, and do it faster than anyone else — they hand-select 1,000+ farm partners, dry-mill at their Bogotá facility, control the export process, and roast in Brooklyn. Stay tuned for the opening date closer to summer! The opening hours will be 7.30 am to 7 pm and they will have lots of indoor seating (40 seats to be precise) and possibly outdoor seating as well.
Fireboat LLC is seeking a liquor license for their tavern that will be open seasonally at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. A retired FDNY fireboat (capacity 199) will be used as an oyster bar, located in the slip on the north side of the pier. This proposal comes from the owners of the Pilot sail boat oyster bar at Pier 6 and the Island Oyster bar on Governor’s Island who won the initial concession rights for the site.
