Department of Education publishes COVID guidelines for the fall

The Department of Education has released COVID guidelines for fall 2022 for public schools dropping in school PCR testing and continues to recommend non-mandatory mask wearing and vaccination for students.

  • Mask wearing will be optional for all students and staff including 3k for All and Pre-K
  • Vaccines will not be mandated for students (unless they participate in certain after school activities)
  • All DOE staff and visitors must be vaccinated against COVID 19
  • Schools will offer home test kits to those with a potential in-school exposure and those with symptoms. In addition, each staff and student will receive 4 tests per month to take home.
  • No more PCR testing at school
  • Students who test positive for Covid, must stay at home for 5 days. They can return to school on day 6 if they have no symptoms, or if their symptoms are improving. They must wear masks at school through day 10.
  • Students will no longer be required to fill out a daily health screener to enter the building
