Our annual Halloween Guide features free family-friendly fall festivals and spooky events in Brooklyn. Get ready for the annual Halloween Fest in Fort Greene Park, Fall Fest at Atlantic Terminal and in Brooklyn Bridge Park, DUMBOween, a first time ever Superhero and Pumpkin Fest at City Point, the Park Slope and Cobble Hill Halloween Parades, a Halloween Festival in Bay Ridge, the best Trick-or-Treating streets and much more! Greg’s Halloween Paw-Rade @ Greenwood Park | Park Slope

Greg’s Pumpkin Patch, which is set up at Greenwood Park beer garden in Park Slope this year, is hosting a “Costume Pawrade” for dogs on Saturday, October 12. Prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, Best Group Costume, More Original, and more. Greg’s Pumpkin Patch will be open for the entire Halloween season, starting September 28. They sell pumpkins ranging from little munchkins to large pumpkins, as well as decorative corn, gourds, and fall mums. You can paint pumpkins, carve them, and enjoy more fall activities for kids! Best of all, Greg’s will clean up the mess for you.

Fall Fest at Atlantic Terminal Mall | Downtown Brooklyn

Atlantic Terminal and Brooklyn Bridge Parents are hosting a FREE family-friendly fall festival on Atlantic Terminal’s outdoor plaza and car-free Fort Greene Place on Sunday, October 13th from 11 am to 2 PM. We will set up an “urban pumpkin patch” with over 1,000 pumpkins waiting to be decorated by the kiddos. The outdoor plaza and car-free Fort Greene Place will feature arts & crafts, pumpkin painting, block building, haunted trucks to enter (if you dare), soccer, costume dance party and more! Kids are encouraged to come in costumes.

Brooklyn Bridge Park’s annual fall festival will celebrate the changing of the season with an all-day family-friendly festival. Pumpkin Carving at The Dram Shop Bar | Park Slope

This family-friendly pumpkin carving event will take place at The Dram Shop, a neighborhood bar in Park Slope. There will be free pumpkins to carve and take home while supplies last. Kids eat free on Saturdays!

Come to Brower Park Library, located in the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, for a free movie screening and craft project! The library will be showing Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, rated PG, runtime 1 hour 16 minutes. There will also be a Halloween craft project!

Pumpkin Decorating at DUMBO Family Games | DUMBO

We are celebrating the end of our DUMBO Family Games season ’24 on car-free Washington Street with a special pumpkin decorating party on Sunday, October 20* from 11 am to 1 pm. Come one last time this year to play and make friends! There will be additional games and crafts for ages 2 to 8! Curated by the DUMBO Business Improvement District x Brooklyn Bridge Parents and supported by Leaf Medical & Leaf Dental in DUMBO. Superhero & Pumpkin Fest at City Point | Downtown Brooklyn

City Point and Brooklyn Bridge Parents kick off the spooky season with Brooklyn’s first Superhero & Pumpkin Festive featuring Spiderman, Wonder Woman and Captain America and pumpkin decorating. Costumes encouraged! Best for ages 2 to 10. The free event will take place on Sunday, October 20 from 11 am to 1 pm at City Point on the ground floor level next to Rumi. Highlights include:

7th Annual Cobble Hill Halloween Window Painting Day | Cobble Hill

Sign up for Halloween Window Painting Day in Cobble Hill, where local children create their own Halloween-themed paintings on the windows of participating Court Street businesses. This event is open to children in grades 1-10 living in the neighborhood between and including Atlantic Avenue to Union Street, Smith Street to Columbia Street. Pumpkin Festival at East New York Farms | East New York

Join East New York Farmers’ Market for their Annual Pumpkin Festival, with pumpkin carving, face painting, a costume contest with prizes, performances by Mazarte Dance Company, and a free fire cider workshop on the farm (register here)! There will also be live music all day long. Attendees are invited to bring photos and memories of loved ones who have passed to add to a Dia de los Muertos altar on the farm.

Pumpkin Point 2024 | Governors Island

Get excited for spooky season: Pumpkin Point returns to Governors on #Halloweekend 2024! NYC’s most unique pumpkin patch is just a ferry ride away October 26 & 27, 2024, featuring arts & crafts, trick or treating on both days, fall-themed food and drink, and—of course—a huge pumpkin patch in Nolan Park. Pumpkin Point is free, with a suggested donation day-of if you are able. Here are some important tips for your trip to Governors Island this weekend:

  • Governors Island will be running additional ferry service from two Brooklyn locations this weekend to accommodate anticipated crowds: Red Hook/Atlantic Basin and Pier 6/Atlantic Avenue. This is in addition to normal service from the Battery Maritime Building (10 South Street) and NYC Ferry service. Click here for fer­ry sched­ules and tickets.
  • Governors Island recommends bringing your own tote bag/reusable bag to carry your pumpkins.
  • They are anticipating a large volume of visitors, so leave plenty of time and read all the tips for planning your trip here.

14th Annual Children’s Halloween Festival and Parade | Coney Island

The Alliance for Coney Island will be hosting their 14th Annual Children’s Halloween Festival and Parade once again at the Coney Island Amphitheater. The first 1,200 children will receive a goodie bag and wristband to Luna Park in Coney Island to enjoy the rides after the parade! All children must arrive in costume and will automatically be enrolled into the costume contest. Categories include: Most Creative Category, Best Group Costume, and Funniest Costume.

Redemption Church Fall Festival at Coffey Park | Red Hook

Redemption Church will host their annual Fall Festival in Red Hook’s Coffey Park, with Halloween activities, games, candy, music, and more.

26th Annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest | Fort Greene Park

In its 26th year, the Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest is Brooklyn’s largest and longest-running dog competition! The event will take place at the bottom of the Monument Stairs. As always, the show is free to watch! And stick around after the contest for Fort Greene Park’s Halloween Fest, from 12:00 to 4:00pm.

Treats on the Trails at Shirley Chisholm State Park | East New York

Join us for our Halloween spectacular event along the trails of the Penn side of the park! The festival begins at Hendrix Creek Patio and extends down Hendrix Creek Road. Along the way participate in crafts, play games, learn about the park, and collect goodies! This year, the event will feature free button-making, a kids’ bike raffle, and a photo booth! There will be a Boo-Cycle Tour (a Halloween-themed bike ride) departing from the Penn Bike Library at 1PM and 3PM. Separate registration is required for the bike tour!

Piano’ween Festival at St. John’s of Park Slope | Park Slope

In this beloved yet frightful fall festival, piano students in BKCM’s Suzuki Program perform their most terrifying musical repertoire, dressed in their most ghoulish seasonal attire. Open to all Suzuki families and the wider BKCM community. Come dressed to impress! The festival will be held at St. John’s of Park Slope at 139 St. John’s Place, Brooklyn.

Seaport Kids x Halloween Bash | The Seaport

Pumpkins. Tricks. And plenty of treats. Save the date for Seaport Kids x Halloween Block Party, in partnership with Mommy Poppins and Brooklyn Bridge Parents. From 3pm to 5pm on Saturday, October 26, the cobblestones and Seaport Square will transform into a Halloween-themed block party for kids. Enjoy a live music performance from urban cowboy musician Hopalong Andrew from 4:00-4:45pm, as well as pumpkin-painting, face-painting, halloween crafts activities and, of course, a celebration of attendees’ fabulous costumes. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes (both themselves and their doggos) for a chance to win a prize. We will choose two (2) winners – 1 dog winner and 1 human winner. Halloween Festival | 5th Ave in Bay Ridge

Stop by our annual Halloween Festival on 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge with FREE pumpkin decorating, bouncy house, music, kids activities, trick-or-treating and more! Brooklyn Bridge Parents is partnering up with the 5th Avenue BID in Bay Ridge to host a big fall festival on 10 blocks on car-free 5th Avenue from 72nd to 85th Street. Come enjoy the many restaurants from all over the world and a block party with bouncy houses, arts & crafts, pumpkin decorating, “Trunk-or-Treat”, haunted truck, music and much more. The free event will take place on Saturday, October 26th from 3 to 7 pm. Kids are encouraged to come in costumes!

  • Owl Pellet Dissection | 10am–1 pm | Participants will have the opportunity to pick apart owl pellets, masses of undigested parts of food that owl species occasionally regurgitate!
  • Mask and Finger Puppet Workshop | 10am-1 pm | Participants will explore under logs, leaves and branches and you may come eye to eye with an unexpected. Search for Prospect Park’s critters that are often overlooked!
  • Nature Chef’s Surprise! | 11 am–12 pm | Our nature chef has some tasty treats for you to try that are delicious, nutritious, and crunchy! Take a nibble and earn a special certificate and boasting button. Learn how this mystery treat is a sustainable alternative protein source that has nutritional benefits.
  • Bug Explorations | 12–1 pm | Participants will explore under logs, leaves and branches and you may come eye to eye with Prospect Park nature’s creepy insect residents!

Also in Prospect Park, take a ride on the Haunted Carousel while enjoying your favorite Halloween jams on Saturday, October 26. Sunday, October 27, and Thursday, October 31.

Trick or Treat at IKEA Brooklyn | Red Hook

Join us at IKEA Brooklyn for a Halloween celebration! There will be treats, crafts, giveaways, and a photo station for your little goblins. Kids can participate in a scavenger hunt win a free frozen yogurt! There will also be trick-or-treat bag decorating and Swedish candy samples. Brooklyn Heights Association Halloween Parade | Brooklyn Heights

Join the Brooklyn Heights Association for the annual parade down the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. This year, the parade will begin at the ramp entrance to the Promenade at Orange Street and Columbia Heights.  Parade-goers will walk the full length of the Promenade, led by our parade captain from Treasure Trunk Theater. Raffle and treats at the Remsen Street finale. After the parade, head over to Montague Street for some Spooky Open Streets, in partnership with the Montague BID.

Montague Open Streets will be closing out the 2024 season on Sunday, October 27 with Halloween Fun! Highlights will include:

  • Trick or Treating on Montague Street | 12-3pm | Look for this sign in the windows of Montague Street businesses to Trick or Treat! Participating shops include Montague Diner, Golf v.@, Saketumi Asian Bistro, James Weir Florist, Spirit Halloween, and Housing Works.
  • Montague Diner Spooktacular | 12-4pm | Join Montague Diner for a day of Halloween festivities – face painting, sing-a-longs, story telling and more!

Calling all princes and princesses, heroes and villains, witches and wizards! The FREE Greenpoint Children’s Halloween Parade will step off around 12 Noon in McCarren Park (Manhattan Avenue and Driggs Avenue). Costumed kids of all ages will march up Manhattan Avenue to Greenpoint Avenue and back to the park. Following the parade will be a ticketed Spooktacular Party (tickets start at $20) indoors at Hide & Seek, located at 593 Manhattan Avenue, with timed 50-minute sessions at 10 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM and 2 PM. Woof-o-ween at Domino Square | Williamsburg

Park Slope Parents’ beloved Halloween Costume Contest is back! Dust off your hot glue guns and sewing machines. Awards will be given in the categories of: Best use of Stroller/Wagon, Scariest, Best Group/Family/Ensemble, Best Infant, Best Pop Culture, Best Classic Halloween, Most Creative, and Best use of Recycled/Green Materials. (Favoritism is given to cheap, DIY, creative, and recycled costumes!) After the contest, all participants parade around Washington Park. Cobble Hill Halloween Parade | Cobble Hill | 4pm

Organized by the Cobble Hill Association, the Cobble Hill Halloween Parade is always on Halloween, rain or shine. This year’s parade will once again be led by the incomparable Brass Queens. Music starts in Cobble Hill Park at 3:30pm, and the parade leaves from the Congress Street entrance exactly at 4pm. After the parade, stick around for some of the best trick-or-treating in Brooklyn!

Boo!KCM Halloween Celebration | Park Slope | 4-6pm

BKCM’s free, family-friendly Halloween garden party in Park Slope is back! Some have speculated that our 143-year-old Victorian mansion may be haunted. We can neither confirm nor deny these rumors, but we CAN confirm that some talented musical spirits will be giving a spine-chilling performance in the garden, and that the candy will be plentiful and frightfully delicious. Unleash your inner monster at Myrtle Avenue’s hair-raising, spooktacular Monster Mash at the Myrtle Avenue Plaza. Get your ghoul on with DJ Des One’s eerie tracks, marvel at Dancer Keller’s solo Thriller showcase, and learn killer moves from Mr. Chung. Then, join forces with PS20 Dancers for a chilling Thriller Dance Mob that’ll wake the dead! Cap off the night with a bone-shaking dance battle while enjoying spooky games & sweet treats throughout this Halloween spectacular — guaranteed to be a monster hit! Costumes are encouraged but not required – just bring your Halloween spirit! Remember, little monsters 12 and under must be accompanied by their guardian ghouls.

DUMBOWEEN | DUMBO | 4-7pm

One of our favorite neighborhood traditions, DUMBOWEEN brings hundreds of costumed Dumbonians out for our Annual March to the Arch through Brooklyn Bridge Park with brass bands + puppets, followed an Archway Party featuring crafts with Creatively WILD Art Studio, a photobooth and of course, candy! Plus, Trick-or-Treat at 50 + Dumbo small businesses around the neighborhood!

  • 4pm | March to the Arch | Gather on Washington Street between Front and Water Streets. Parade through DUMBO en route to the Dumbo Archway, led by live music and puppets!
  • 4-7pm | Trick or Treat in Dumbo | It’s a neighborhood-wide tradition! 50+ small businesses hand out candy on Halloween from 3-7pm (while supplies last.) Look for the pumpkin sign in the window of participating locations. Get the map here!
  • 4:30-7pm | Dumbo Archway Party | Hands-on fun with Creatively WILD Art Studio, a spooktacular photobooth, live music, prizes for the best (human!) costumes, drinks for sale from The Archway Bar – and of course, lots of candy!
  • 5pm | Howl-O-Ween | Deck out your four-legged friend and come to **Washington Street** for the second annual Dumbo x H.E.A.L Howl-O-Ween! Prizes for  (1) Most original, (2) Best Owner/pet duo and (3) Best in show/Cutest/Coolest. Win an Apple Watch and lots of of other great prizes. Birds, cats, alligators also welcome!
  • All weekend! | Photo Fun for Everyone! | We’re creating festive photo experiences, perfect for showing off that creepy costume or commemorating a day in Dumbo. Find them on Washington Street and in the Dumbo Archway Thursday October 26 through Tuesday October 31.

Park Slope Halloween Parade | Park Slope | 5-7pm

Dress up in your best costume and join in the annual Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade! The parade begins at 14th Street and 7th Avenue, then heads north on 7th Avenue, turning left on 3rd Street and ending in J.J. Byrne Playground at the Old Stone House.

Big Halloween Get Down | Brooklyn Bridge Park | 6-10pm

Join Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy for their first-ever Big Halloween Get Down dance party with Sounds from Herbert Holler! This is a free, all-ages event at Pier 3 Plaza. Bring your good vibes and your best moves! Doors open at 6:00 PM and the dance party starts at 7:00 PM. RSVP so we know you’re coming! This is an all-ages event, but youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Willowtown Halloween | Brooklyn Heights | 4-8pm

Enter on Joralemon Street at Hicks Street for Willowtown’s Halloween, with a full street closure from 4-8pm. There will also be Storm Troopers and a contest for spookiest house!

Strong Place Trick-or-Treating | Cobble Hill

Kids start trick-or-treating around 4pm on October 31st on Strong Place in Cobble Hill. The gathering runs all afternoon until dusk when everybody runs out of candy.

Clinton Street Trick-or-Treating | Cobble Hill & Carroll Gardens

Day of the Dead Family Celebration at Green-Wood Cemetery | South Slope

Friday, November 1 | 4-7pm | Register here

Discover the rich history and traditions associated with the holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) through family-friendly crafts, performances, music, activities, and food. Celebrated throughout Latin America from October 31st to November 2nd, this holiday is a time for family and friends to commemorate departed loved ones through prayer, altars, music, and dance. Free. Registration recommended to receive updates about the event. Walk-ins are welcomed. No admittance after 5:30pm.

Donate your Halloween Candy | Brooklyn Heights

Tuesday, November 5 & Wednesday, November 6 | 3:30-6:00pm

Save the date (and your Halloween candy) for November 5th and 6th, when you can donate from 3:30-6:00pm at the side door of St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church at 157 Montague Street. Donate what you can and The Service Collective will make make sweet treat bags for our neighbors in need to enjoy. Treats will benefit the Vinegar Hill Food Pantry, Farragut Senior Center, and St. Ann’s Food Pantry.
