L&B Spumoni Gardens Pizzeria open

The DUMBO location of this iconic Brooklyn pizza place has opened up on Old Fulton Street. They are open from 11 am to 10 pm during the week and 11 am to 11 pm on weekends. The restaurant features 22 tables for indoor dining, the menu includes mussels, roasted artichokes, chicken parmigiana, spaghetti with meatballs and more. They have a separate entrance to order take-out slices – cheese pizza slices (round or square) cost $4.35. No delivery yet but it is in the makes.

Tanoreen open

An outpost of this beloved Palestinian restaurant in Bay Ridge has arrived at Time Out Market in DUMBO. Run by mother-and-daughter owners, Tanoreen’s menu is inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors. Located on the 5th floor rooftop, the Time Out Market location will serve a mixed mezzo plate, falafel, lamb kafta kabobs, cheese-laden knafeh and more Middle Eastern dishes.

Gran Electrica closing

After 12 years, Gran Electrica is closing at the end of December. The team plans to reopen the restaurant with a new concept in February, 2025.

DUMBO library temporarily closing

The Brooklyn Public Library branch on Adams Street will temporarily close for essential repairs on December 18, 2024 and is anticipated to reopen in April 2025.  The Brooklyn Public Library operates an Adams St Annex nearby at 1 John St. To continue serving the community, select neighborhood library services will be available there, including returning materials, picking up holds, creating or renewing library cards, and borrowing board games starting January 2. The Annex will be open weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm.

Street reconstruction project DUMBO

The street reconstruction project is 90% done, and is expected to be completed by end of 2025.
Update on current work on Water Street between Bridge and Jay, Jay and Water, and Bridge and Water:
  • Gas relocation-complete
  • Electric relocation – complete
  • Sanitary sewer replacement – complete
  • Distribution water main replacement – complete
  • Large steel trunk water main installation – complete
  • New storm sewer along north curb line & catch basins – ongoing, should be complete by March.
  • Two small sidewalk vaults for 69 Jay to fill in – should be complete by late January.
Final curb, sidewalk, cobblestone street restoration and Plaza pavers for below locations should start around April 1, 2025 and be complete around Thanksgiving 2025:
  • Water, Bridge to Pearl
  • Jay, John to Water
  • 2nd half of Plaza north of Archway

New dog run in Brooklyn Bridge Park

The underutilized John Street Lawn near the Jay Street entrance has been remodeled into a dog park in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
