Spend a day at Industry City
There’s so much happening at Industry City these days, from the winter ice rink to a new tech indoor playground to their newest addition, a huge climbing gym. With plenty of kid-friendly indoor activities, you can spend the whole day on campus!
- Hapik Climbing Gym | Located in Building 6, Hapik is 15,000 square, with 2 ropes courses and more than 150 routes across 50 climbing walls, going up to 24 feet in height. Best for ages 4 and up! Regular climbing passes are $34.90. They also have an interactive digital treasure hunt available at $39.90. For toddlers, there is a soft play area, with passes for $23.90.
- CREA Interactivity | CREA is Industry City’s first tech driven indoor playground where players navigate through interactive zones, conquering challenges and fostering creativity through movement. The “Crea Adventure” is a 60 minute experience, geared toward 5-12 year olds that combines technology with traditional play/games. Each step reveals new and captivating challenges as players run, jump, climb, crawl and dodge through our seven zones. Drop-ins are $35/class. Find out more here!
- Brooklyn Escape Room | Not only does Brooklyn Escape Room have escape rooms—you can also have a Nerf battle! They are open every day but Sunday, escape rooms are $50/player Monday-Friday, and $45/player for groups larger than 2. On weekends, there is a 4-person minimum and 15-person maximum. - Think Talk Create Crafts | This family-run business offers crafting for all ages every weekend from 12-5pm for $45/hour, with projects like cookie decorating, slime making, canvas painting, fashion designing, butterfly wing making, and fairy wing making. - Joy Gymnastics | Joy Gymnastics is offering a Mini Camp from February 12-21 for ages 4.5-12 years. Learn more here, and see all their programming on their website!
- Ice Rink | Hit the ice rink while you’re at Industry City! Open Thursdays and Fridays 4-8pm and weekends and holidays 11am-8pm. $10 on Thursdays, $16 on Fridays and weekends. Skates are $12 to rent, skate aids are $10, helmets are $5, and bag check is $5.
- Game Room | The Game Room at Industry City has an array of free-to-play vintage arcade games as well as ping pong, and table top gaming! They are open on weekends from 12-2:30pm and 3-5:30pm.

Brooklyn has several family-friendly escape rooms, best for tweens and teens. Put your heads together and work as a team in one of these fun, theatrical rooms!
- The Escape Game Brooklyn | City Point
The Escape Game features six unique games including Cosmic Crisis, their newest escape room, and Prison Break, their hardest game. Each family-friendly option includes multiple rooms and can hold up to 8 players. Content is designed for 13 and up because of reading and math, but all ages are welcome! Kids 4 and under can play for free. Kids 14 and below need a parent with them to play the game. Games are available Monday–Sunday, 8am-12am. You will work alongside our staff to manage the compost turning and layering process at the Columbia Street Farm. Tasks may also include raking site maintenance and other farm duties. During winter break, Prospect Park Alliance hosts daily nature programs, and the Urban Park Rangers offer Kids Week, with hands-on programs for ages 12 and under in various parks. Check out a new indoor playground and arcade
There’s a new indoor playground and arcade, called Max Funland in Sunset Park. Older kids will love the arcade, and kids 3 and up can enjoy the ball pits and trampolines. Located at 3901 8th Avenue in Sunset Park, they are Monday through Friday 11:30am-9:30pm and weekends from 10:30am to 10pm. Admissions starts at $24.99/1.5 hours on weekdays, and $27.99/1.5 hours on weekends. There is dedicated parking for $6. The arcade features more than 100 games, plus claw machines and VR devices. There is also a 6D dynamic theatre!

Bring the family to Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for a Black History Month Singalong

All families are invited to the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for a Family Singalong and celebration of Black History Month. The sing-along will allow children to explore the influence of prominent Black musicians and civil rights leaders in American history through song, dance and video, highlighting the way Black artists have taken popular stories, songs, and even classroom concepts and creatively reimagined them. This afternoon will be an educational, multimedia and interactive experience that’s perfect for little kids ages 2-6 years old and their families.

See the annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival at Central Library
Saturday, February 22 | 1-2pm
Check out the 14th annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival—a yearly video contest in which kid filmmakers create weird short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds. The screening is hosted by children’s author James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and Newbery Honor winner Rita Williams-Garcia (One Crazy Summer and more). The festival takes place at Central Library in Grand Army Plaza.
See marine life up close at the New York Aquarium
Visit the aquarium in Coney Island to see all your favorite marine life! The aquarium is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm (park closes early at 4:30pm November-March). Check out the Touch Pool, where guests of all ages can meet local marine invertebrates, including crabs, marine snails and horseshoe crabs. The Touch Pool will be open during the school holiday (February 17-21)from 11:30am – 3:30pm (times changing seasonally), and is included with admission to New York Aquarium. Admission for children 3 and up start at $26, adult tickets start at $30. Or, come for free on Wednesday afternoon!
One last chance to celebrate Lunar New Year!
There’s one last Lunar New Year celebration to usher in the Year of the Snake! Hop across the river for the 27th Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival in Chinatown on Sunday, February 16. The parade will start at 1pm on Mott Street, but the festival & booths will be ongoing from 11:30am-3:30pm. It’s all free!

Try curling at Edge NYC in Hudson Yards
Sky Chalet is a seasonal curling experience (January–March 2025) at Edge NYC in Hudson Yards, the city’s highest indoor/outdoor sky deck. Guests can rent their own private curling lane for 50 minutes and enjoy access to the skydeck as well as special cocktails for adults and winter treats. See the dazzling Orchid Show at New York Botanical Garden
This year’s Orchid Show, Mexican Modernism opens on February 15. Visit during the exhibit’s first week to see the incredible display made from thousands of orchids. The Orchid Show is inspired by the bright, multicolored designs of Mexican modernist architect Luis Barragán. Learn more about the exhibition here!
