“It Was Just an After-School Class… Until Parents Begged Us to Make It a Camp” (sponsored)

It all started with a single anthropology class at PS 10 and PS 32. We brought in lessons about Aztecs, Emperors, and Egypt in a hands-on way, and something surprising happened: kids became obsessed. They asked when it was happening again. They told their parents it was their favorite part of school. Word spread fast.
So on a whim, we introduced “Splat Lab,” an extension of our popular Anthropology Arts classes that focused more on creativity, open exploration, and tactile, hands-on projects like ooblek. Suddenly we weren’t in two schools, we were in fifteen in North Brooklyn alone, then over 50 throughout NYC. Kids came home raving. Parents told us they’d never seen their child this engaged. And then came the question we kept hearing:“Can you do this over the summer?”

So we did. Splat Camp is the summer extension of our after-school offerings, a kooky, creative, flexible, and joyful experience for kids ages 4 to 10. Campers get to experience our Anthropology Arts curriculum, Splat Lab projects, engineering challenges, and plenty of free play. Located in DUMBO just off the F train and walking distance from the A at High Street, the camp runs June 30 to August 8 and offers both day passes and weekly enrollment. One day, one week, or the whole summer, we make it easy. Just be warned, we tend to sell out.

At Splat Camp, kids don’t just make slime. They design monsters, build temples, learn about ancient Egypt, and compete in engineering challenges. Each week features a unique theme like Monsters, Halloween in July, or Myths and Legends, and every day is packed with open-ended creative chaos and carefully structured joy.
Our program is built on a four-part educational model that combines experiential learning, youth development, a Montessori-inspired approach, and universal design. Kids learn by doing, build confidence and collaboration, follow their curiosity, and engage in activities designed for all learning styles and abilities.
Parents love us because kids are grouped by age in small, nurturing cohorts.

Our staff are not only professional and trained in The Splat Method. Many teachers are familiar faces from after-school programs your kids already know and love and have worked at Splat Lab for years.

  • Optional early drop-off and flexible scheduling make summer easier for working families.
  • The DUMBO location is convenient and full of outdoor adventure.

This summer, give them something to talk about. And don’t be surprised when they want to come back every week.

“My kid said, ‘This was the best day of my life.’ That pretty much says it all. My kids talk about Splat Lab constantly at home and do the cheers and rituals they learn with their group. Splat Lab is totally engaging and run by staff who get kids.” — Parent Testimonial
