Two new pickleball hubs are coming to Brooklyn: CityPickle has unveiled their plans for outdoor courts in DUMBO beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, while a new indoor facility is opening in Red Hook on June 1.
CityPickle Brooklyn Bridge
CityPickle plans to open 11 outdoor pickleball courts at Anchorage Plaza, under the Brooklyn Bridge between Old Fulton and Washington Streets. The area has been closed to the public for more than 15 years and used for parking and a storage lot for the Department of Transportation. The 60,000 square foot site, which will be called “CityPickle Brooklyn Bridge,” will also include food trucks, green space, games such as chess, shaded seating areas, bike racks, and areas for community programming.

CityPickle’s proposal for the site was chosen by NYC Department of Parks last June for a three-year contract, with the option for three additional one-year extensions. The total length of occupancy will depend on the timing of future BQE reconstruction. Everything on site will be temporary and removable for when the contact ends.

The hub will open once permitting is finalized and construction is complete – probably in the fall of 2025, but no exact date has been announced. Pickleball courts will be open March through November, but other amenities will remain available year-round, including pedestrian and seating areas, food trucks, and areas for community programs. Hours of operations and rates have not been determined, but play time at CityPickle’s Central Park location costs $80+ per hour.

Red Hook Pickleball Club
Red Hook Pickleball Club is set to open its doors on June 1, and will be Red Hook’s first professional indoor pickleball facility. Spanning 18,000 square feet, the club will have five cushioned courts, designed to provide a comfortable and safe playing experience.
The club offers various membership options, including Founding Memberships available for a limited time at $199/month, and Monthly Memberships at $269/month, and Annual Memberships at $2,748/year. Benefits include unlimited open play, guest passes, discounts on court reservations and special events, and more.
Non-members can also book courts and participate in open play sessions. During off-peak hours, open play starts at $26/player, and during peak hours (including weekends), the rate increases to $38/player.
They will also offer coaching, including one-on-one sessions, clinics, and leagues. The club hopes to foster a tight-knit community centered around pickleball, with special events, mixers, and seasonal activations to enhance the social experience for members.
Red Hook Pickleball Club will be open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 10pm, and Sunday from 7am to 8pm. Stay up to date as the club’s grand opening approaches!
