At Kane Street Kids, preschool-age children engage joyfully in co-authored emergent curriculum based in inquiry, problem-solving, and collaboration. Our approach is centered around seeing children as capable individuals with unique interests for children in the 2s, 3s, and Pre-K programs. When thinking about Kindergarten readiness, we are in close dialogue with local Kindergarten programs at a variety of public and private schools, and we tailor our program to reflect their priorities for children entering Kindergarten, which include problem-solving, self-care, kindness, curiosity, and growing skills around being a member of a classroom community. We strive to incorporate these and other Kindergarten-readiness skills like pre-math and pre-literacy skills naturally into both our daily routines and direct teaching methods. Preschool is our first opportunity to spark curiosity and a love of learning in all of the children, and we take advantage of this very special time in their lives. Our facility includes both indoor and outdoor play spaces as well as relaxed, flexible classroom environments.
