October’s new restaurants are here! These are the openings we can’t wait to try this month—plus the ones we’re counting down to. Bar Lumière and Bar Rêve are now serving cocktails and creative French bites in Cobble Hill and the Columbia Street Waterfront, a cozy New American spot has opened its doors in Williamsburg, and in Brooklyn Heights, the beloved Premier League pub Floyd has been reincarnated as the British-style sports bar Black Bull.
Plus, we’re keeping tabs on more openings this month: an all-day Carroll Gardens café serving everything from coffee to dinner to soft serve, a DUMBO pizzeria with a dedicated play space for kids, and Jean-Georges’s latest ABC Kitchens outpost along the waterfront in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
We want to hear from our community (Brooklyn Bridge Parents satisfaction survey)! Bar Rêve | Cobble Hill | NOW OPEN
Bar Rêve, a new cocktail bar inspired by the salons and soirées of Belle Époque Paris, opened earlier this month at 222 Smith Street. Open Tuesdays to Saturdays, make a reservation here.

Bar Lumière | Columbia Street Waterfront District | NOW OPEN
Bar Lumière has opened on the Columbia Street Waterfront at Columbia and Kane Street, offering a French-inspired menu from Michelin-starred Chef Steven Hubbell. The 80-seat restaurant serves seasonal dishes with a creative French twist, including crispy pig’s head, crab doughnuts, steak tartare, duck breast, and Bosc pear blancmange for dessert. The wine list is curated by Andre Mack—formerly a sommelier at Thomas Keller’s Per Se and The French Laundry, and cocktails feature local Brooklyn and New York spirits. The space also showcases artwork for sale on the walls, and the restaurant plans to have live DJ music on select nights.

Good Days | Williamsburg | NOW OPEN
Now open on South 6th Street in Williamsburg, Good Days serves seasonal New American fare with a raw bar, small plates, and shareable mains. The menu begins with raw bar offerings like fresh oysters, Hamachi Crudo with brown butter yuzu vinaigrette, and shrimp and crab cocktails, followed by dishes such as Bottarga Linguini, Pan-Seared Duckwith cherry vinaigrette, and their House Burger. Owned by married duo Chef Stephany Burgos and Amanda Norton, the restaurant also showcases Amanda’s creative cocktail program featuring sesame-oil-washed tequila and mezcal drinks, a robust amaro list, and natural wines. The 2,000-square-foot space includes a front bar, skylit dining room, and a cozy back patio under the Williamsburg Bridge—complete with heaters, blankets, and a dog-friendly vibe. Good Days is open for dinner Wednesday–Sunday; reservations are available on Resy, with walk-ins always welcome.

ABC Kitchens | DUMBO | Opening October 23
Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten will open his first Brooklyn restaurant inside Empire Stores on Thursday, October 23, just steps from Jane’s Carousel and the waterfront. The new restaurant combines elements of ABC Kitchen, ABC Cocina, and the vegeterian abcV, with a menu highlighting favorites from all three—like Jean-Georges’s famous kale salad, peekytoe crab toast, green chickpea hummus, roast-carrot-and-avocado salad, arroz con pollo, pork tacos, and guacamole. The 125-seat restaurant takes over the former Sugarcane space, featuring chandeliers, plus a glass room that will serve as retail by day and a private dining room by night. The dining room will also feature landmarked stone walls built from Brooklyn Bridge remnants. A spacious patio in Brooklyn Bridge Park offers outdoor dining with views of the bridge and the waterfront.

Black Bull | Brooklyn Heights | NOW OPEN
Floyd, the beloved Premier League pub with a bocce court that closed on Atlantic Avenue in December 2024, has found a new home just down the street in the former Bohemian Bar space. Vanessa Forster-Whalen, the familiar face of Floyd, leads the new spot, and has decorated it with plenty of British paraphernalia. Styled like a classic English pub, the bar has the cozy feel of a neighborhood hangout and features numerous TVs for sports. While the bar favors Newcastle United, it will show most Premier League games, as well as other major sporting events. Happy hour runs Monday–Friday from 3-6pm. Note that strollers aren’t allowed–it’s a bar best enjoyed by the grown-ups only.

Mister Cheeks | Carroll Gardens | Coming soon
Mister Cheeks, founded by local Brooklyn parents, is coming soon to 347 Court Street in the former Enoteca space. This family-friendly all-day café will serve coffee and pastries in the morning—grabbed easily from their take-out window—followed by sandwiches, soups, salads, and rotisserie chicken all day, with plenty of grab-and-go options. Dinner will also highlight their rotisserie chicken, chicken schnitzel, and other mains. You’ll be able to either dine in or take any item off the menu to go, including fun snacks for kids and their homemade soft serve. Mister Cheeks hopes to celebrate their “soft serve opening” (coffee and soft serve from the takeout window) in late October, with their grand opening in November. Stay tuned for more updates from this promising neighborhood eatery!

Ziggy’s Roman Cafe | DUMBO | Coming soon
Opening in October in DUMBO, Ziggy’s Roman Cafe will serve Roman-style pizzas and traditional Roman dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant is being designed as a family-friendly dining option in the neighborhood, and will include a children’s play area on its mezzanine floor. Owner Igor Hadzismajlovic, also a founder of the cocktail bar Employees Only, is overseeing the project and its beverage program. Follow their progress on Instagram!
