Community input session for redesign of Borough Hall Park, aka Columbus Park 2/26

Most of Borough Hall Park is underutilized except for when the Greenmarket is happening or the occasional event like the Brooklyn Book Festival. In fact some of the park is even used by judges as a parking lot. In partnership with Borough President Antonio Reynoso and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Lincoln Restler has been spearheading an effort to envision a park for the Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights communities and for Brooklyn as a whole. They have convened a Columbus Park Task Force comprised of civic, cultural and educational leaders over the past couple months and now are organizing a broader community input meeting.

A new skatepark could even be coming to Columbus Park. Already a popular spot for for skateboarders, there is the possibility of designing a new skatepark in the space; read more here. The project is still very early in the brainstorming phase, and the community has been asked weigh in and share their own ideas for the park.

The community session will take place on Monday, February 26 from 6-8pm at Borough Hall – 209 Joralemon Street. RSVP.
