DUMBO’s most whimsical annual tradition is back. The 2026 DUMBO Drop is officially set for Friday, May 29, bringing thousands of toy elephants parachuting down from the skies onto cobblestoned Washington Street, Brooklyn’s most iconic block. What you need to know to attend, street closures and how to grab your tickets in our guide:
What You Need to Know to Attend
-
There is no separate, free Kids Zone this year. All children’s entertainment, family activities and the Viewing Area are located inside the main, ticketed zone on Washington Street where the DUMBO Drop itself will happen.
-
All guests ages two and up need a ticket to access the block party and viewing area.
-
We recommend you leave strollers and scooters at home due to expected crowds and cobblestone streets.
- A professional Parachute Team will execute the drops. Attendees must not enter the Drop Zone to catch or retrieve an elephant. There is no “elephant catching zone”.
-
The event will take place rain or shine.
What is Included in Your Ticket
-
Entry to Washington Street between Front Street and Water Street, which includes the block party and the viewing area.
-
One 2026 collectible souvenir elephant and parachute designed per ticket holder. This will be handed to you when your ticket is scanned at entry.
-
Free popcorn provided by BASIS Independent Brooklyn (while supplies last).
-
Automatic entry into the Drop’s prize drawing and access to event giveaways.
-
Pre-Drop Block Party Activities: Includes live music, a flash mob dance party, a photo booth, Lego building with Brooklyn Bridge Parents, crafts and parachute design for kids, and 7 dollar food tastings on Restaurant Row.
There are two timed entries. Tickets are sold separately for each drop. Please note tickets holders will be asked to leave the viewing area immediately following the Drop so come early to enjoy the pre-Drop block party activities.
