DUMBO is buzzing with new openings this fall, from the latest outposts of Space Club and Ferox Ninja Park to a kids’ dance studio, a board game and Dungeons & Dragons café, a high end facial spa and even a new children’s hair salon. Beloved home goods shop Fishs Eddy is set to open soon, along with new dining spots ABC Kitchens, Barbuto, and Ziggy’s Roman Café. And come January, a new bouldering gym for ages 16+ and a pottery studio will join the mix.
3rd Place from the Sun | NOW OPEN
3rd Place from the Sun opened September 12 in DUMBO, giving the neighborhood its first dedicated board game and Dungeons & Dragons spot. The team also runs Last Place on Earth, in Greenpoint, known for its extensive game collection and welcoming D&D community. The new DUMBO location features 100 brand-new games, plenty of tables, and private themed rooms designed for immersive D&D sessions, complete with soundproof glass, lighting effects, and a sound system. Kids and teens are welcome (best for 7 and up, and ages 11+ can play without an adult), and drop-in hours run daily from 12–10pm (closed Tuesdays; Sundays open until 8pm). Play is $15 per person for up to two hours, and adults can BYOB. Their first Family D&D event, Family Fantasy Quest, is coming up on September 28 from 2-4pm! Brooklyn Basement Dance Company | NOW OPEN
Brooklyn Basement Dance Company officially opened its doors on September 15 at 82 John Street in DUMBO, offering kids and teens (ages 5-18) dance training in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics. Programs include the Competition Program—5+ hours/week with three competitions and a year-end recital—and à la carte Dance Foundation classes, also ending with a recital. The 2,700 square-foot-studio has two rehearsal rooms, with classes Monday–Thursday starting at 4pm, plus on Saturday mornings. Free intro classes are available; schedule yours here! Fall classes are in session, but there’ still space for more dancers! Classes for tots are on Saturdays at 10 am, drop-ins welcome. And they will be adding another tots class on Wednesdays at 4pm in the coming weeks.

Barbuto at the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge | NOW OPEN
Chef Jonathan Waxman is expanding his beloved West Village Italian restaurant, Barbuto, from Manhattan to Brooklyn, opening at the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. The menu will feature signature dishes like roast chicken with salsa verde, kale salad, and JW Gnocchi in an industrial-style space with scenic views. The restaurant occupies the former home of The Osprey, with outdoor seating in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Studio47 Haircut Studio | NOW OPEN
A new haircut studio has opened at 18 Bridge Street #4H, offering haircuts for both kids and adults. For their grand opening, they are offering 10% off first visits, and 50% off kids haircuts when the parent gets a cut, too! Open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am to 7pm; Tuesday from 9am to 6pm; Sunday from 9am to 5pm, closed Saturdays. Joanna Vargas Facial Spa | NOW OPEN
The upscale spa Janna Vargas with locations in Manhattan and Los Angeles offering facials has opened up on John Street opposite the Aveda Institute. Facials start at $175. Open Wednesdays to Fridays 12-8 pm and Saturdays 12-6 pm. You can book your appointment here.

Space Club | Coming October 2025
Space Club is set to open its third location at 256 Plymouth Street in DUMBO this October, offering kids of all ages a massive bead pit, a Magna-Tile pit, scarf-blowing machines, trampolines, a three-level playground with slides, a bedazzling room, multiple party rooms, a café, and—coming in 2026—a rooftop greenhouse. This new location will open to members on October 27 and then be open for everyone starting on November 1. Membership sales are limited. Passes for non-members will cost $39 for two hours and cover one adult and one child. While after-school programs won’t launch until January 2026, members can secure their spot now for structured activities like homework help, arts and crafts, open play, and even school pick-up for kids in Pre-K through 6th grade. Ferox Ninja Playground | Coming October 2025
Ferox, the indoor ninja park based in Greenpoint, is opening a new location this fall at 65 Jay Street (between Front & Water) in DUMBO. Called Ferox Ninja Playground, the 5,000-square-foot facility is designed specifically for kids in grades K–5 and can host up to 50–60 children at a time. The DUMBO space will be smaller than the Greenpoint gym but will feature a trampoline area, climbing walls, and age-appropriate ninja warrior–style obstacle courses. The facility will offer open play, after-school classes, and birthday parties. Their grand opening will take place on October 26.

ABC Kitchens | Coming Fall 2025
This fall, Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten will open his first Brooklyn restaurant inside Empire Stores, just steps from Jane’s Carousel and the waterfront. The new spot combines elements of ABC Kitchen, ABC Cocina, and the vegeterian abcV, with a menu highlighting favorites from all three—think kale salad, peekytoe crab toast, green chickpea hummus, roast-carrot-and-avocado salad, arroz con pollo, pork tacos, and guacamole. The 125-seat restaurant takes over the former Sugarcane space, featuring chandeliers and a glass room that will serve as retail by day and a private dining room by night. The dining room will also feature landmarked stone walls built from Brooklyn Bridge remnants. A spacious patio in Brooklyn Bridge Park will offer outdoor dining with views of the bridge, waterfront, and skyline.

Fishs Eddy | Coming Fall 2025
Fishs Eddy, the longtime Union Square home goods store, is opening a Brooklyn location this fall at 81 Front Street. The 3,800-square-foot space, previously home to several clothing retailers, will carry the brand’s signature mix of kitchen basics with quirky designs—from mugs, plates, and bowls decorated with witty sayings and New York skylines to Brooklyn-themed items like mugs featuring Brooklyn bridges. Founded in 1986, Fishs Eddy once operated a Montague Street shop in Brooklyn Heights, which closed in 2007. The new DUMBO store will be open daily from 10am to 8pm.

Ziggy’s Roman Cafe | Coming October 2025
Opening in October in DUMBO, Ziggy’s Roman Cafe will serve Roman-style pizzas and traditional Roman dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant is designed as a family-friendly dining option and will include a children’s play area on its mezzanine floor. Owner Igor Hadzismajlovic, also a founder of the cocktail bar Employees Only, is overseeing the project and its beverage program.

Brooklyn Uprising | Coming January 2026
Brooklyn Uprising, a new indoor climbing gym, is set to open in January 2026 at 20 John Street in DUMBO, directly across from Brooklyn Bridge Park. Alongside bouldering walls, the facility will feature weight training, a sauna, and locker rooms, plus options for climbing coaching and personal training. The gym will be for ages 16 and up. DUMBO Ceramics | Opening January 2026
A new pottery studio will open on the corner of Jay and John in the former NY Media Center space in January 2026 offering pottery classes for adults and kids, day camps, and community events. Stay tuned for more details.

K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotels | Coming Early 2026
K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel is opening its first NYC location in early 2026 at 295 Front Street. The facility will feature luxury boarding, daycare, and an outdoor play areas. K9 Resorts features for cage-free suites for its furry guests. The DUMBO outpost will be the first of several planned New York City locations as the company expands.
