Earth Day celebrations 2023 in Brooklyn

Free Earth Day celebrations will take place in Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill and Governors Island this year on Friday 4/21 and Saturday 4/22. We will add more events in the next weeks so please check back in.

Earth Day celebration | Downtown Brooklyn | April 21

Join us for an Earth Day celebration at Atlantic Terminal mall with a FREE family-friendly open air event on Atlantic Terminal’s outdoor plaza. Activities include: Earth day crafts, adventure play with recycled materials, music & more with Brooklyn Bridge Parents & Playground NYC. Fun for kids ages 2 – 10. The free event will take place on Friday, April 21 from 2 to 4 pm (public schools will be closed) outside on Atlantic Terminal’s plaza weather permitting ( the event will be moved inside at Atlantic Terminal Mall if there are any weather related issues). Earth Day Festival | Fort Greene Park | April 22

The Earth Day Festival will include lots of activities across the entire park. From clothing and book swaps to paper making and planting there’s something for everyone. Saturday, April 22 from 11 am to 2 pm at Fort Greene Park.

Downtown Brooklyn Car-Free Earth Day | Albee Square | April 22

Join the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership for an exciting and earth-friendly activation on the plaza at Albee Square. Albee Square West will also be closed to traffic all day, so bring your yoga mats, bikes, scooters, and roller skates and enjoy a car-free street! Free art making from reused materials, repurpose old t-shirts, bring clothes for the clothing swap or take a Zumba class on Saturday, April 22 from 11 am to 3 pm.

Earth Day Pop-Up | Commodore Barry Park | April 22

Fun afternoon of imagination and creation using recyclable materials for kids of all ages on Saturday, April 22 from 1.30 to 3.30 pm at Commodore Barry Park.

Earth Day | Governors Island | April 22

Celebrate Earth Day on the island with free bike lessons, native plantings workshops, performances, guided tours of the landscapes and farms and more! The free event will take place on Saturday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm.

Celebrate Earth Day on Hoyt St | Boerum Hill | April 22

On Saturday, April 22nd, The Atlantic Avenue BID will host an Earth Day celebration from 12 to 4 PM on their open street (Hoyt Street between State Street and Atlantic Avenue). Open to all—bring your friends, family, & neighbors!

Earth Day Block Party on Bergen | April 22

The North Flatbush Avenue Business Improvement District is looking forward to its 3rd annual Earth Day festival, coming up on Saturday, April 22nd from 1 to 5 pm on Bergen street between Flatbush and 5th Avenues. Featuring live music, Electronics Recycling, sneaker recycling, bulb planting and bike giveaways.

Solar Festival and Mini Car Race | Grand Army Plaza | Saturday April 22

The whole family is invited to join Brooklyn Public Library and our partners at Solar One to learn more about how solar power works. Mini cars propelled by solar panels will race on the plaza. Learn how to turn a potato into a DIY battery and meet experts who can help you learn more about sustainability and solar power in your home. Saturday April 22, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m at Grand Army Plaza.

Spring Civic Sweep, neighborhood clean up, trash pickup and graffiti removal on Saturday, April 22 from 10 am to 2 pm at Old Stone House and Washington Park.
