Fourth of July week is here, and there’s plenty of summer fun for families happening all across Brooklyn! Celebrate with events like the Brooklyn Army Terminal festivities in Sunset Park, Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and fireworks in Coney Island, and the amazing Macy’s fireworks display over the East River. Join Prospect Park Alliance for a historical and musical exploration of the little-know enslaved revolt in New Utrecht in 1706. Enslaved Africans throughout the Americas constantly revolted to free themselves and improve their conditions. Come learn about the revolt and listen to the coded drum beats that may have been used to coordinate it.
