Balloontopia | City Point Brooklyn | April 1 & 2
BALLOONTOPIA is a magical, artsy, #selfie-ready installation from Brooklyn Bridge Parents and City Point. Celebrate spring at Downtown Brooklyn’s newest playground of ginormous colorful balloon art, immersive experiences, and balloon games, including balloon b-ball and bowling! Play with balloons, learn about the history of balloons, snap #selfies, and take in all the balloon sculptures on display. Free exclusively on April 1 and 2 from 11 am – 3 pm. RSVP here.
Celebrate Holi | Bklyn Children’s Museum | April 1
Join BCM for their annual celebration of springtime, renewal, color, and play. Known as the “Color Festival,” Holi originated in India and is now enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. Come hungry and ready to play as they celebrate a day of art, dance, food, music, and wonder that will make your whole family feel like you’ve been transported to the streets of India (or Trinidad or Guyana). And it wouldn’t be Holi without color powder. They will be taking over neighboring Brower Park with pounds of color powder to throw in the air. Make sure to wear WHITE for color powder play. There are 3 Celebrate Holi sessions, each 2.5 hours long, beginning at 10 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm. The performance line-up is the same for each session, and each culminates in color powder play in the park. Tickets are $13 per person, RSVP here.
Hip-hop concert and workshop for kids | BAM | April 1

Pierrepont Playground Egg Hunt | Brooklyn Heights | April 2
The annual Pierrepont Playground Egg Hunt in Brooklyn Heights will take place on Sunday, April 2nd at 10:30am (Raindate: Sunday April 2nd). The egg hunt starts promptly at 10.30 am. Bring your baskets to collect candy-filled eggs (there will be a couple of surprises!) and enjoy our bake and coffee sale (Coffee generously donated by Brooklyn Roasting Company). Governors Island Egg Hunt | Governors Island | April 8
10,000 wooden painted eggs will be hidden throughout Governors Island’s 120 acres of open space, with Island-specific prizes and giveaways for the most hard-boiled egg hunters on Saturday, April 8. This new event includes several levels of egg hunts tailored to specific age groups, along with an Island-wide scavenger hunt that everyone can take a crack at. The day-long celebration at the Parade Ground will also include performances from Wonderspark Puppets, Brooklyn Magic Shop, and more to be announced. Spring-themed arts and crafts will be featured all day, and food will be available for purchase onsite from Governors Island vendors along with a beer garden from Governors Island Beer Co. Visitors will also get to enjoy a Spring Bunny photo op and the hijinx of Looney Tooney the Clown. The Governors Island Egg Hunt is free for all participants. No need to shell out big bucks for a day of eggs-cellent family-friendly free-range fun! BAMkids: Cirque Kalabanté | BAM | April 21 & 22
World-class acrobats dance, leap, and dazzle in this colorful creation, performing authentic choreography from Guinea accompanied live by musicians on traditional instruments such as the kora, djembe, and various kinds of percussion. Founded by Yamoussa Bangoura, a multidisciplinary artist of Guinean origin, Cirque Kalabanté brings together circus arts, African dance, and music from West Africa into one unforgettable experience. Rollerskating | Rollerwave in Downtown Brooklyn & Brooklyn Bridge Park | Ongoing
The Roller Wave roller skating rink at Atlantic Terminal Mall offers skating on a 9,000 square-foot rink with family programming, skating lessons and more. The Roller Wave is open Wednesday and Thursday from 12 pm – 10 pm, Friday through Sunday from 11 am – 2 am, open to all ages until 8 pm and adults-only following. Skaters can find The Roller Wave at 625 Atlantic Ave, in between Party City and Old Navy. Tickets start at $19.50 for adults plus a $10 skate rental fee, and $14.50 for children plus a $5 skate rental fee.
The roller skating rink at Pier 2 is reopening on March 31st for the 2023 season. The rink is open 6 days a week, closed on Tuesdays. They offer free skating sessions, a new hockey league, theme night skating, birthday parties, field trips and more. Find out more here.
