There are some big updates on library renovations in our Brooklyn neighborhoods! The Adams Street Library in DUMBO will reopen on April 1 after four months of renovations, the Pacific Street Library in Boerum Boerum Hill is planning an upcoming renovation, while the Carroll Gardens Library may get a temporary location as its long-awaited reopening faces further delays.

Adams Street Library in DUMBO reopening April 1

The Adams Street Library has announced that their branch will reopen on April 1, after being closed since mid-December. Book access and programming for the community will resume upon its reopening. Until then, the Adams Street Annex at 1 John Street will continue to offer select services, such as returning materials, picking up holds, library cards, and borrowing board games. The Annex is open on weekdays only from 10 am to 5 pm.

Pacific Library in Park Slope planning renovations

Brooklyn Public Library has announced that it will renovate Pacific Library, located at Fourth Avenue and Pacific Street. The library dates back to 1904. They are currently looking for the public’s input as they plan renovations. Fill out the survey here! No closing date or renovation timeline has been announced yet.

Carroll Gardens Library’s reopening delayed and search for a temporary home

Carroll Gardens Library closed in July 2023 for major renovations, and due unexpected complications, the reopening has been further pushed back to Summer 2026. While weekly children’s programs have resumed, the Carroll Gardens community has voiced their frustration with the delay. Community members appealed to State Senator Andrew Gounardes, who stepped in to recommend that Brooklyn Public Library create an interim home at 250 Baltic Street. With a temporary space, the library could offer more programming and book access through Summer 2026. Stay tuned for more updates!
