Veselka | Williamsburg
Veselka, the legendary Ukranian diner in the East Village, opened its first Brooklyn location this month. The restaurant is in a former car wash on the corner of Lorimer and Meeker, near the BQE in Williamsburg. They serve favorite dishes such as varenyky, borscht, lattkes, stroganoff. Exclusive to the Brooklyn location is a pastrami pierogi collaboration with Katz’s.
Continent | Williamsburg
A new restaurant called Continent has opened in the the lobby of Williamsburg’s Hotel Indigo. This is the second location of the Atlanta restaurant, run by Scotley Innis, who was on Season 18 of Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen. Continent serves African, Caribbean, and Asian-inspired fare and craft cocktails.
Foodtown | Brooklyn Heights
The supermarket Foodtown had its grand opening for a new Brooklyn Heights location this month. The grocery store is on the corner of Clinton and Joralemon Streets.
The Saloon at Clover Club | Cobble Hill
Clover Club, a longtime destination for cocktail connoisseurs on Smith Street, has opened The Saloon next door, which will host pop ups, private events, cocktail classes, and more.
Prem | Park Slope
This Thai restaurant and noodle bar opened in Park Slope on June 7, and serves both lunch and dinner. The menu includes duck noodle soup, plus classic Thai dishes such as pad thai, drunken noodles, and thai fried rice.
Mariscos El Submarino | Greenpoint
This Mexican seafood joint based in Jackson Heights opened a new location in Greenpoint in early June. Mariscos El Submarino is known for aguachiles and shrimp cocktails. Open from 12pm to 11pm daily.
Stack’d Burger | Downtown Brooklyn
The burger and wings chain Stack’d Burger has a new location at 18 Nevins Street.
Blue Hour | Bushwick
This new halal takeout counter is set up inside a Bushwick gas station. The owner, Ali Zaman, is the son of the owners of Sami’s Kabab House in Astoria. Blue Hour serves chicken over rice, fried chicken sandwiches, lamb kebabs, smash burgers, chicken parm, and more.
Orion Bar | Bushwick
New to Bushwick, Orion Bar’s menu is centered around the Korean spirit soju. There are so many drinks to choose from, ranging from martinis to frozen cocktails. There is also a food menu that features Korean anju, or drinking snacks.
Banhmi-Pro | Boerum Hill
Banhmi-Pro is a new Vietnamese restaurant and bubble tea shop on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill. The menu includes shrimp rolls, sliced beef pho, traditional bcanhmi, and lychee flavored bubble tea.
Playa Bowls | Downtown Brooklyn
This smoothie and juice bar has a new location at 102 Willoughby Street. They serve açaí, pitaya, and coconut bowls and smoothies, plus juices and more.
Afuri Ramen and Dumplings | Williamsburg
Afuri Ramen and Dumplings is a Japanese chain that opened its first East Coast location this month. Their signature dish is a light, delicate yuzu shio-style ramen.
Fontainhas | DUMBO
A new Indian canteen concept called Fontainhas opened at 28 Jay Street in DUMBO this June. It is an all-day cafe, wine bar, and market. The cafe serves a wide variety of coffee and chai drinks. Food menu items include bhel fried rice, curd rice with tadka + podi, and uttapam with farm vegetables and chutneys (more food items to come soon). In the market, you can find snacks, chutneys, spice blends, and other grocery items from both US-based South Asian brands as well as brands from India. Mokafé | Greenpoint
This new coffee shop opened a new location on Manhattan Avenue, serving specialty coffee directly from Yemen. The coffee house also plans to open a larger flagship location later this fall, also on Manhattan Avenue.
Ma Lillit | Bed Stuy
This family-run restaurant brings Caribbean fare to Bed Stuy. Highlights of the menu include Trini pepper shrimp, loaded jerk fries, crispy red snapper dinner, and a calypso burger.
Kith Treats | DUMBO
The clothing brand Kith has opened a new Kith Kids storefront at 55 Water Street in DUMBO, adjacent to Time Out Market, and with it, the fourth location of their cereal-infused ice cream shop, Kith Treats.
Liz’s Book Bar | Carroll Gardens
This bookstore, café, and bar has opened in Carroll Gardens and will serve coffee during the day and wine and beer at night. Learn more and stay tuned for special events here.
Rodeo | Crown Heights
This new natural wine bar is attached to a record shop and serves wine alongside bar snacks and sandwiches.
Chinta | Greenpoint
Chinta is a new restaurant serving authentic Thai fare in Greenpoint. The restaurant takes over the space formerly occupied by Shanghai Lee on Franklin Street.
Nick and Sons Bakery | Greenpoint
This bakery’s first location opened in Williamsburg in 2018. This newest location is across from McCarren Park in Greenpoint, and sells croissants, cardamom buns, tarts, and other pastries. The bakery will also start serving pizza soon.
Prospect Butcher Co. | Greenpoint
This butcher shop, based in Prospect Heights, opened a new location in Greenpoint this month. The worker-owned shop sells meat, cheese, cold cuts, charcuterie, sandwiches, condiments, beer, and coffee. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 11am-7pm and Sunday, 11am-6pm. Breakfast is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-12pm. They will also start hosting classes soon.
Bomberino | Prospect Lefferts Gardens:
This new Italian spot serves breakfast and coffee, and will soon serve Italian Aperitivo. Bomberino is from the team behind the pizzeria Brooklyn DOP and coffee shop Caffè de Martini.
Nara Chicken | Williamsburg
Nara Chicken is a new spot in Williamsburg serving Korean-style chicken and other Korean fare.
Dream Bean Cafe | Williamsburg
This new coffee shop has opened inside Haricot Vert, an accessories store on North 1st Street in Williamsburg.
Dukan Syko | Windsor Terrace
This Syrian and Korean grocery store and general store opened in Windsor Terrace this month. The mom-and-pop style shop comes from the team behind the restaurant Syko, which serves Syrian and Korean cuisine.
ippudo V | DUMBO Heights
A new ramen is now open in DUMBO Heights at 117 Adams Street. They serve five different kinds of ramen, as well as sandwiches, açaí bowls, fruit sandwiches, and smoothies.

Purslane Cafe | Prospect Park | Coming July 4
Purslane Cafe is located in the the Prospect Park Boathouse and will open on Thursday, July 4. Purslane Cafe is operated by the catering company that produces events at the Boathouse and Prospect Park Picnic House. The cafe will be open daily from 8 am-3 pm with outdoor seating, and will offer a variety of summer cocktails, wine and beer on select evenings. Food options include sandwiches and pastries, plus coffee drinks.
Smør | Clinton Hill | Coming Summer 2024
This Scandinavian bakery based in East Village will open a second location on Putnam Avenue, between Downing Street and Grand Avenue. Smør will also serve small plates at night.
Yafa Café | Downtown Brooklyn | Coming Summer 2024
Yafa Cafe is a Yemeni coffee house and community space based in Sunset Park. They will open a new location at 505 State Street in Downtown Brooklyn this summer.
Blank Street Coffee | Downtown Brooklyn | Coming Summer 2024
The Brooklyn-based chain will be opening up a new location at One Boerum Place, on the corner of Boerum Place and Red Hook Lane. Blank Street serves coffee, matcha, and breakfast all day.
Chopt Creative Salad Co. | Downtown Brooklyn | Coming Fall 2024
Another chain coming to One Boerum Place is Chopt Creative Salad Co., a fast-casual salad spot. They are set to open on the ground floor in Fall 2024.
Caffe Buon Gusto | Brooklyn Heights | Coming soon
Caffe Buon Gusto, the Italian restaurant formerly on Montague Street, has put up their awning on the former Amy’s Bread space on Henry Street near Atlantic Avenue. The restaurant also has a location on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Prestige Market | Brooklyn Heights | Coming soon
A new market is coming to Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights. According to signage, Prestige Market will sell burgers & sandwiches, panini & wraps, chopped salads, juices & smoothies, halal food, and breakfast fare.
