Open Streets in our neighborhoods kicking off in April

The Open Streets in Brooklyn are back in the spring! Our overview of car-free streets to walk around on, have lunch on and to play on! Open Streets will be in effect from April/May to November depending on the neighborhood.

Downtown Brooklyn

Willoughby and Pearl Streets will be pedestrian only every day from 10 am to 7 pm (Willoughby between Pearl/Jay and Pearl between Fulton/Willoughby). They will also be closing down Lawrence Street between Willoughby and Fulton once a month – 5/30, 6/30 and possibly more dates.

DUMBO

Starting April 1, Washington Street is open for pedestrians 7 days a week, from 11 am to 9 pm.

Brooklyn Heights

Starting April 15, Columbia Place between Joralemon and State Streets, Joralemon between Hicks and Furman Street, State Street between Willow and Columbia Place and Willow Place between Joralemon and State Street every day from 8 am to 8 pm.

The Montague Street BID and Brooklyn Heights Association are planning to hold Open Streets on Montague Street from May 6 to October 2, Saturdays from 12 to 9pm.

Poplar Street outside of PS 8 continues to be pedestrian only on weekdays between 8 am to 4 pm.

Remsen Street between Clinton and Henry Street continues to be pedestrian only Mondays to Fridays 9.15 am to 3 pm through July.

Cobble Hill

Congress Street will be closed for traffic between Clinton and Henry Street every day from 8 am to 8 pm.

Boerum Hill

Hoyt Street between Atlantic Avenue and Schermerhorn Street Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 11 pm. State Street between Smith and Nevins daily from 8 am to 8 pm. Pacific Street between Smith and Nevins Street Saturdays and Sundays 8 am to 8 pm. Wyckoff Street from Hoyt to Bond Saturdays and Sundays 8 am to 8 pm. These pedestrian-only streets will go into effect around April 16.

Prospect Heights

The Vanderbilt Open Street will be in effect every Friday from 5 to 10 pm and Saturdays, Sundays and Monday holidays from 12 to 10 pm starting April 1. Vanderbilt Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Park Place.
