Outdoor festivals and street fairs this season

The outdoor event season for families is kicking off in May festivals celebrating music, dance, art, and more, plus block parties and street fairs in our neighborhoods. Mark your calendar for block parties in Brooklyn Heights, Street Fair with Caribbean Flair, a summer bash at the Seaport plus more outdoor events through October. We will add more as the outdoor season continues, so check back in!

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast and Giglio Carnival | Williamsburg

Wednesday, July 10–Sunday, July 21 | Monday-Friday 6-11pm, Saturday 4pm-12am, Sunday 12pm-11pm 

Since 1887, the Italian American community has been celebrating their faith, culture, and family traditions on the streets of Williamsburg. Each July, the streets are filled with revelers from near and far to take part in a centuries old tradition known as the Dancing of the Giglio. The streets surrounding the Shrine Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel are transformed into a vibrant festival with rides, games, food vendors, and daily entertainment. Special events:

  • Thursday, July 11 | 6:30-8pm: Children’s Giglio Lift
  • Sunday, July 14 | 9am-5pm: Giglio Sunday including 9am parade, 11am mass, 1pm first lift
  • Tuesday, July 16 | 10am: Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mass
  • Wednesday, July 15 |  7:30pm: Dancing of the Giglio Under the Stars
  • Thursday, July 18 | 6:30-8pm: Children’s Giglio Lift
  • Sunday, July 21 | 2pm: Old Timer’s Giglio Sunday

Family Volunteering with the Brooklyn Book Bodega | Brooklyn Navy Yard

Join the Brooklyn Book Bodega for meaningful family volunteering. This event is perfect for families with adolescents between 10-17 years old. As a family you will make a positive impact, stamping and sorting books donated to Brooklyn Book Bodega set for community distribution. This is a wonderful opportunity to bond with your loved ones while giving back to the community during the summer months.

One Crown Heights Community Festival | Crown Heights

Sunday, July 21 | 12-5pm

Come out for performances, gastronomic delights, artisan marketplace, and family activities including roller skating. Brought to you by a dedicated team of volunteers, coalition members, and sponsors, the festival celebrates community, culture, and collaboration! The St. Mark’s Avenue Stage will feature performances from Batala, Laura Melnicoff, Kakande, Aaron Einhorn, and Tropical Fête. Enjoy the Small Wonder Puppet Show at Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s common theater. Partake in neighbor to neighbor community conversations 2-3pm.

7th Annual HealthJox Festival | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Saturday, July 27 | 12-5pm

Get ready for a day of fun and fitness! HealthJox will be hosting basketball games, airodart, pickleball, zumba, kids’ games, face painting, balloon twisting, free snacks and drinks. Event partners include BK-Network, NY Liberty, Ladies Who Hoop, The Girl Scouts of America, Couch Ted Gustus, and LisaG. Fun for the whole family!

STooPS Bed-Stuy Summer Festival | Bed Stuy

Saturday, July 27 | 1-7pm

STooPS Bed-Stuy is paying homage to the legendary figures and enduring legacies that shape our vibrant community. The event features performances and artistic programs spanning generations and disciplines, art crawls, and block party! Don’t miss this unforgettable fusion of history, art, and community spirit at Bed-Stuy Legends and Legacies!

Saint James Block Association Block Party | Clinton Hill

Saint James Block Association will host their 2024 Block Party on Saturday, July 27, from 2-8pm on Saint James Place between Gates & Greene Avenues. More announcements to come, stay posted on their Instagram!

Seaport Kids x Summer Bash

Saturday, August 17 | 11am-1pm

Summer crafts, balloon twisting, basketball entertainment with 3 Time Guinness Record Holder and water sprinklers at the Seaport Square. Bring bathing suits for water play!

Back to School Party powered by Community Offshore Wind | Brooklyn Heights

Join us for our bigger than ever annual Back to School Party by Brooklyn Bridge ParentsMommy Poppins  powered by Community Offshore Wind during Open Streets on Montague on Sunday, September 15 from 12 to 4 pm with 40 free kids activities, performances and more. We will have games, arts & crafts, soccer, bubble shows, face painting, kids fitness classes, obstacle course, DJ and much more. Live performances will include a kids concert by Hoppalong Andrew and a dance party by Hype Dance. Enjoy car free blocks on Montague Street from Clinton – Henry & Henry – Hicks. Best for ages 0 – 12. Open Streets on Montague is a project of the Montague Street Business Improvement District in collaboration with the Brooklyn Heights Association and the New York City Department of Transportation. Brooklyn Book Festival Children’s Day @ Brooklyn Commons | Downtown Brooklyn

The 2024 Brooklyn Book Festival returns September 22 – 30  and includes 9 days of literary events. The festival include a Children’s Day in Brooklyn Commons! With a Picture Book Stage, Young Reader’s Stage, Performance Stage, Workshop Room and a dedicated Makers & Creators corner, families enjoy a full day of readings, workshops, performances, book signings, and art projects with favorite authors and illustrators.

A Brooklyn institution, Atlantic Antic is the oldest and largest street festival in Brooklyn and a joyful experience, looked forward to by residents of Brooklyn and beyond each year. From Fourth Avenue to the Waterfront, Atlantic Antic is a celebration of ethnic tastings, fine arts and crafts from around the world, non-stop music and entertainment, and just pure fun. There will be tastings from the many diverse Atlantic Avenue restaurants and offerings from the Avenue’s fashion, craft, home and other shops that make Atlantic Avenue so special. Mommy Poppins and Brooklyn Bridge Parents will host the Playtopia Kids Zone with dozens of free kids activities and performances towards Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Fall Fest | Atlantic Terminal Mall Plaza

Saturday, October 12 | 11am-2pm

Brooklyn Bridge Parents has partnered up with Atlantic Terminal Mall to host our annual Fall Fest on Saturday, October 12th from 11 am to 2 pm. We will turn the plaza into one big pumpkin patch, play and dance zone! Stay tuned for more details.

Sound & Color! Autumn In New York | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park’s annual fall festival will celebrate the changing of the season on Saturday, October 19, with an all-day family-friendly festival of music, arts and crafts, storytelling, lawn games and more. Check back here for 2024 details and schedule!
