Outdoor festivals and street fairs this season

The outdoor event season for families will run through Halloween with festivals celebrating music, dance, art, and more, plus block parties and street fairs in our neighborhoods. Mark your calendar for fall festivals plus more outdoor events through October. We will add more as the outdoor season continues, so check back in!

Brooklyn Brujeria Festival @ DUMBO Archway | DUMBO

Friday, September 20 | 5-10pm

Founded by Chiquita Brujita in 2015, Brooklyn Brujeria is a Brooklyn-based creative house committed to using the power of art and joy as a form of activism and community building. Join under the DUMBO Archway on September 20 for drumming, tarot reading, magic market and lots of joy.

Art is Alive Festival | Fort Greene

Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation is back with its eighth annual Art is Alive festival in The Space @ Irondale. The day will feature performances, workshops, and classes featuring art forms and artists from the African Diasporic experience. Highlight of the festival will include:

  • 12-2 pm | Dance Classes | 45 minutes each, dance classes hosted by Asase Yaa School of the Arts in Afrobeat, Caribbean, and Hip Hop
  • 1pm | Workshop | Resources for Raising a Child Artist Workshophosted by Asase Yaa in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygien
  • 4-7pm | Live Performances | Asase Yaa Youth Ensemble, Batalá New York, FIYAA Forces of Nature Incredible Youth Arts Alliance, Plezi Rara, and Soul Science Lab

Flatbush Frolic | Flatbush

Sunday, September 22 | 10am-6pm | Cortelyou Road between Ocean Ave. and Coney Island Ave.

Flatbush Frolic on Cortelyou Road is one of the longest-running and most popular street fairs in Brooklyn! Stroll Cortelyou Road for endless options of  food, clothing, artisanal goods & more. There will be live music, games, pony rides and carnival rides.

5th Avenue Sunset Park Street Festival | Sunset Park

Sunday, September 22 | 11am-6pm | 5th Avenue from 44th Street to 59th Street

Join us for our 25th Annual Sunset Park 5th Ave BID Festival! There will be businesses from our avenue, vendors, and community organizations showcasing products, food, and services from our local Sunset Park area businesses.

YES! Block Party | Bushwick

Sunday, September 22 | 12-6pm

House of Yes is taking over the whole damn street on September 22, transforming the block into an electric playground carnival wonderland of performances, play, art, and outdoor dance party magic. African Film Festival Family Day Celebration | Governors Island

AFF’s annu­al Fam­i­ly Day Cel­e­bra­tion is back on Gov­er­nors Islannd! The Downtown Brooklyn Arts Festival (DBAF) is an annual celebration of Downtown Brooklyn’s cultural community and the artists who inspire the borough’s creative spirit. Acclaimed artists and arts organizations from across the Brooklyn Cultural District share programming at The Plaza at 300 Ashland with exciting performances, workshops, and family programming. Brooklyn Book Festival Children’s Day @ Brooklyn Commons | Downtown Brooklyn

The 2024 Brooklyn Book Festival returns September 22 through 30 and includes 9 days of literary events. The festival include a Children’s Day in Brooklyn Commons! With a Picture Book Stage, Young Reader’s Stage, Performance Stage, Workshop Room and a dedicated Makers & Creators corner, families enjoy a full day of readings, workshops, performances, book signings, and art projects with favorite authors and illustrators.

A Brooklyn institution, Atlantic Antic is the oldest and largest street festival in Brooklyn and a joyful experience, looked forward to by residents of Brooklyn and beyond each year. From Fourth Avenue to the Waterfront, Atlantic Antic is a celebration of ethnic tastings, fine arts and crafts from around the world, non-stop music and entertainment, and just pure fun. There will be tastings from the many diverse Atlantic Avenue restaurants and offerings from the Avenue’s fashion, craft, home and other shops that make Atlantic Avenue so special. Mommy Poppins and Brooklyn Bridge Parents will host the Playtopia Kids Zone powered by Prospect Schools with dozens of free kids activities and performances towards Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Maker Faire at Coney Island Amphitheater | Coney Island

Maker Faire returns to Coney Island for our second banner year! The Maker Faire is an interactive event that celebrates, shares and showcases the work of inventors, creators, and DIY enthusiasts of all ages. In addition, you get to attend competitions, exhibitions, classes and panels to spotlight and celebrate the great minds and makers from New York, and from around the world. We feature hands-on exhibits, demonstrations, and workshops in fields such as robotics, crafts, engineering, art, music, 3D-printing and future technologies, designed by students, teachers, and independent folks who build interesting things.

Carroll Park Fall Fair | Carroll Gardens

Friends of Carroll Park present the 2024 Carroll Park Fall Fair at the ball field between President & Carroll Streets. Browse crafts, housewares, art, books, music, clothes, jewelry, antiques and collectibles.There will also be live music, community organizations, original art, and more. Brooklyn Bridge Parents has partnered up with Atlantic Terminal to host our annual Fall Fest on Sunday October 13 from 11 am to 2 pm. We will turn the plaza and car-free Fort Greene Place into one big pumpkin patch, play and dance zone! Stay tuned for more details.

200+ sites. Three days. One citywide festival. Open House New York Weekend is an annual festival that opens 200+ places across the five boroughs for behind-the-scenes tours and special access at skyscrapers, power plants, artist studios, and everything in between. Join us on October 18-20, 2024, for the 22nd annual OHNY Weekend festival and get a behind-the-scenes look at new buildings reshaping the skyline, public works facilities keeping the city running, parks offering respite, state-of-the-art performance spaces, manufacturing workshops, private collections, and much more. Save the date for the Fall Festival! We will be holding our annual Fall Festival on Sunday, October 20th from 12:00PM – 4:00PM! Join us for an afternoon of food, music, puppet shows, and more! Note: In case of rain, the festival will be moved to Sunday, October 27, from 12 to 4pm.

Halloween Fest | Fort Greene Park

Saturday, October 26 | 12-4pm 

Get ready for what’s in store, Halloween Fest is back with more! Dress up in your best costumes and join us on Saturday, October 26 from 12:00–4:00pm. Enjoy spooky stories, face painting, family-friendly games, and more. Halloween Fest is free to all, no RSVP required. And don’t forget to stop by Fort Greene’s 26th Annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest at the bottom of the Monument Stairs from 12:00 to 1:30!

Halloween Festival | 5th Ave in Bay Ridge

Saturday, October 26 from 3 to 7 pm

Stopy by our annual Halloween Festival on 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge with FREE pumpkin decorating, bouncy house, music, kids activities, trick-or-treating and more! Brooklyn Bridge Parents is partnering up with the 5th Avenue BID in Bay Ridge to host a big fall festival on 10 blocks on car-free 5th Avenue from 72nd to 85th Street. Come enjoy the many restaurants from all over the world and a block party with bouncy houses, arts & crafts, pumpkin decorating, “Trunk-or-Treat”, haunted truck, music and much more. The free event will take place on Saturday, October 26th from 3 to 7 pm. Kids are encouraged to come in costumes!

Court Street Spectacular | Brooklyn Heights

Sunday, October 27 | 11am-6pm

Court Street Spectacular Street Fair between Atlantic Avenue and Joralemon Street. Enjoy Brooklyn’s last big street festival of the year! Come take a stroll down Court Street and visit the merchants and vendors, great food and exciting kiddie rides on Court Street. Great fun all day!
