We had so much fun partnering up with Brooklyn Org and City Point to host the first ever Moms who Move Bklyn breakfast panel. Brooklyn is powered by extraordinary women balancing careers, families, creativity, leadership, and service — and it was amazing to celebrate them together ahead of Mother’s Day. Thank you to our amazing speakers, partners, and attendees for making the morning so meaningful.
“I love being in a room full of moms. They are the most engaged audience because showing up takes time, effort, and planning, especially on a school day. And on Thursday, May 7th they delivered. I was inspired by the panelists, all moms on a mission to strengthen their communities. But the real gift was what came after: Conversations that were authentic, vulnerable, funny, and a reminder that moms need spaces like this where they feel seen and understood.” – Grace Bastidas (Moms Who Move Bklyn Panel Moderator)

Moderated by award-winning journalist and speaker Grace Bastidas, the panel gathered change maker moms for a conversation about Motherhood In Brooklyn: how moms are driving new ideas, navigating challenges, and taking the lead in shaping the borough’s diverse communities. Thank you to our panelist power moms:
- Grace Rauh — Executive Director, Citizens Union
- Laurie Cumbo – Former Commissioner Department of Cultural Affairs
- Latham Thomas – Founder, Mama Glow Foundation
- Katie Denny Horowitz – Executive Director, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance
- Cynthia McKnight – President, Community Education Council 13
Plus: Child Mental Health! It also featured an open conversation with Empire Minds on understanding your options and supporting your child.
Moms Who Move Bklyn was made possible with the support of Stardust Fund, in honor of Monuments to Motherhood.
