Museum of Food and Drink opening in DUMBO

The Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD) is opening on Valentine’s Day, February 14 at the Empire Stores in DUMBO. MOFAD @ DUMBO will open with a new exhibition, Flavor: The World to Your Brain which is a sensory journey through our bodies and our world, designed and curated by food scientists and culinary anthropologists.

Unpack what really happens in our heads when we experience the flavors of food, discover the ways flavor companies engineer and design the flavors that we eat almost every day, and learn what natural and artificial flavoring really mean.

Best for ages 7 and up the interactive exhibit offers various elements for children to experience tastes in unusual ways, create their own “banana, popcorn, vomit” smell at the smell synthesizer, see live what happens in their brain when eating something spicy and brainstorm about their very own childhood comfort food.

The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12 to 5 PM. Last entry at 4:15 PM. Children under 5 are free, children up to 14 years pay $7 and grown-ups $15. Get your tickets here.
