Bumper Cars on Ice at Bryant Park | Manhattan

January 9–February 28 | $24.83/ person on weekdays and $29.35/person on weekends | Best for ages 7+

Bumper Cars on Ice are back at Bryant Park, letting families bump, slide, and spin across The Rink at the Winter Village. Open Sundays–Fridays from 2-10pm and Saturdays from 9:20am-5:20pm, tickets can be reserved online or in person, but advance booking is strongly recommended due to high demand. Rides are 10 minutes.

Central Youth Wing Anime Art Contest Celebration at Central Library | Prospect Heights

Friday, January 9 | 6:15-8:00 pm | Registration is not required but encouraged | Ages 13-18

Join for an after-hours gallery opening to celebrate the Youth Wing’s Anime Art Contest! The event will celebrate the artists and their work, trivia activities, and button-making.

Poke City Card Show at Boerum Hall | East Williamsburg

Saturday, January 10 | 10am-3pm | $5/person, FREE for kids 12 and under

Join the Poke-City Card Show for a day of trading, buying, and selling Trading Card Game (TCG) items. The event features Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana, and other TCGs, with vendors on site and opportunities to connect with other collectors.

Flex Olympics at Brooklyn Children’s Museum | Crown Heights

Show off your moves at Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s Flex Olympics dance workshop! Learn street dance fundamentals, develop your own signature style, and compete in playful dance challenges. Flex is a high-energy street dance that was born in Brooklyn in the 1990s, inspired by Jamaican dancehall.

Cinema From the Margins: The Kite Runner at Adams Street Library | DUMBO

After fleeing Afghanistan as a child, a novelist returns years later and uncovers the fate and long-kept secret of his childhood friend, set against decades of upheaval from the fall of the monarchy to the Taliban era. This 2-hour-7-minute film is the January pick for Cinema From the Margins, a curated series spotlighting underrepresented voices, with a brief introduction and optional post-screening discussion in celebration of Muslim Heritage Month.

It’s Giving AI – Teen News & Media Literacy Series at Central Library | Prospect Heights

Teens are increasingly using AI for school projects, social media, and their own personal creative expressions without understanding the full scope of legal and ethical implications. This workshop helps teens navigate these complex issues through an informative video about using AI responsibly and testing their “eye” for spotting AI-generated artwork. Snacks will be served.

Teen Night at the Brooklyn Museum | Prospect Heights

Join the Brooklyn Museum’s for their first Teen Night of the year! The evening will center on art, mental health, and wellness, inspired by the exhibition Monet and Venice. Explore ways to take care of yourself, manage stress, and set intentions and practices for your mind and body. Teen Takeover: Frosty Friday! at Brooklyn Heights Library | Brooklyn Heights

Join for a Frosty Friday celebration, which starts right after the library closes! Teens will make snow globes, have snow ball fights, paint mugs for hot chocolate, and eat spaghetti with meatballs.

Anime Crew: Shoujo at Brower Park Library | Crown Heights

This club is designed for neurodiverse girls ages 9–12 who are interested in learning more about anime. However, all are welcome! Participants will discover different anime genres and dive into stories and characters that resonate with them. They’ll also learn how to design original characters, develop storyboards, and create short mangas, with an emphasis on celebrating girls’ creativity and perspectives.

Brooklyn Robotics League Competition at Central Library | Prospect Heights

Join the Brooklyn Robotics League Competition, where 16 teams from across Brooklyn compete for the trophy, borough bragging rights, and a chance to advance to the FIRST LEGO League Qualifier on their path to the NYC FIRST Championship!

Brooklyn Bridge Parents is bringing the ultimate tween hangout to City Point in Downtown Brooklyn! Young Brooklynites ages 10-14+ can dive into a morning packed with creativity, energy, and nonstop fun. Craft your own friendship bracelets, trade Pokémon cards, build some Legos, join a Musical Theater Workshop, and don’t miss the K-Pop Demon Hunters dance party from 12:00–12:30 PM. DivaDance Brooklyn will lead dancers through an easy, confidence-boosting routine to the hit song “Golden!”, packed with character-inspired moves that make everyone feel like they’re in their own music video.
